Default Gut feeling

It’s good to make this intellectual connection, because thinking and feeling are intertwined. We don’t have a feeling without a thought that goes with it, and managing feelings means changing thinking (and vice versa). It doesn’t matter where you start Tai chi, for instance works from another angle, and there’s a reason why Eastern deities always have those fat bellies, BTW. The Chinese consider the lower abdomen a reservoir of energy.

A New Look at Intuition and Gut Feelings

Its interesting how the gut and the brain come from the same tissue early on. And gives another reason why thinking good thoughts makes you feel better.

I like it, but I think the last two lines are the most important:

But first you have to get familiar with it. Intuition is an EQ competency and can be developed.
Regardless of what your gut/intuition actually says, we all interpret those feelings in some respect. Regardless of one's level of consciousness, in order to be aware of your feelings your brain must get involved. Unfortunately many of us involve our brain too much and thus we end up with interpretations of our feelings which are incorrect.

So yes, emotions, intuition, gut feelings, all can tell us things that our brain may not be able to, but not if our brain gets in the way

You have a funny feeling about your finacee? Show her the door.
And what happens when that "funny feeling" is simply your paranoia? Bam! Relationship destroyed for no good reason.

Do you mean the relationship is destroyed because you take ACTION based on that feeling, or just based on the mental interpretation of that feeling?

Because you take action based on the mental interpretation of that feeling, not on the feeling itself.

Repeated stomach aches when your fiancée visits could be that funny feeling you should listen to, which tells you to leave her. Or it could just be that she's a lousy cook.

I think of feelings as just another input, like sensory perception. We don't always interpret our senses "literally." For example, we don't believe that a photograph of something is really the thing it depicts. If you extend that to the fiancee example, it's the same deal. Maybe there is in fact nothing amiss with your fiancee, but the funny feeling can tell you at least about what's going on in your own mind... just my two cents.
