Default I apologize if I sound like a newb, but what exactly is emotional mastery?

This is the headline for this sub-forum. When I think of emotional mastery, I think of Jason Bourne, some one who can control their emotions or the average ace poker player who can hide their frustration. However this goes deeper than just that, and I am wondering how emotional mastery can help someone or how it is advantageous to learn it. Also how is confidence part of emotional mastery?

Thanks

I think emotional mastery means taking command of your emotions, and dealing with loss, fear, guilt, etc. Conquering bad emotions.

It means understanding your emotions and learning to shift from negative, dispowering emotional states towards more positive, empowering ones:
  • fear -> courage
  • resentment -> acceptance
  • worry -> peace
  • apathy -> inspiration
  • and so on...

Default Shifting emotional states using Anchoring

There're many ways that can help you to change your states from the disempowrering ones to empowering ones (like wat Steve wrote)

You can consider using NLP to do this too. One way is to use anchoring.
