I read that earlier. Made me think that some (a lot) of fear de-conditioning would be a good thing. Not where I'll go with it, but probably an idea worth exploring.

I read yesterday about a woman who had suffered from seizures that effectively deafened the left amygdala which controlled certain fear related responses to food and sex. After a bout of seizures the doctor walked in on her giving fellatio to an elderly patient.

When she got home her parents reported her binge eating non-stop and later having unscrupulous sex and doing absurd and disgusting behavior. She was caught masterbating in public and often trying to solict sex from just about everybody.

Interestingly enough, people with mongolism seem to have this lack of fear, or perhaps just are oblivious to what is considered socially acceptable.

I've witnessed two people with mongolism at my hometown bus interchange naked, sleeping on a park bench under the doona cover during peak hour where there were schoolkids everywhere, and they didn't seem to mind.

My friend also witnessed 2 male and 1 female mongoloids having full tilt doggie style sex during a course he was studying...they were just going hell for leather at the back of the classroom, without a care in the world

And people think that people with disabilities don't have sex...many mongoloids are highly sexual.

Previous studies with this patient revealed she can't recognize fear in facial expressions, but it was unknown if she had the ability to experience fear herself.

To find out, Feinstein and his colleagues measured the patient's experience of fear with several standardized questionnaires that probed different aspects of fear, ranging from the fear of death to the fear of public speaking.
Fear-Einstein.
