Default What scares you the most?

Hey all,

As some of you might remember, I tried to write a book some time ago. I was unsuccessful but had some interesting ideas. One was my coming up with an idea for an anthropomorphic personification of fear. What I came up with was a shadow in the fog. Something like this:

But less defined, hazier. A shadow in the fog that lets you know something's there but denies you any information as to what it is. To me, this is the scariest thing in the world. Does anyone else have one?

Sweet niblets?! LOL.

What scares me the most... well, after Dexter last night, probably the thought of getting tortured and killed. Brutal murder. Violent rape. Yknow.

Not that I think about that stuff a lot, but it crosses my mind sometimes. It could happen.

What do I get afraid about most often? Iunno, I don't like men looking at me, affixing me with their gaze, undressing me with their eyes. That sort of thing. It stirs up a lot of hostility and fear in me, pretty much on the daily for at least a few seconds.

That's so weird! I just LOVE it when women undress me with their eyes.

It's a little different for men and women, I think. I'm all too used to objectification.

It sounds to me that you're used to your typical not so fun response to "objectification". My ex loved all the attention. She'd especially love all the pick up artists practicing their material, and she got to decide if they win or lose. She loved to see guys work up the courage to talk to her. She made it sound so much more fun to be on the objectified side. You're the one who gets to relax while guys figure out how to talk to you.

Heh heh. I love it when girls eye-screw me. Make an object out of me all you want, but I'm a man, and staring at me won't get you anywhere.

Anyways, on the actual topic: what do I fear most? Uhm. Probably lost opportunity. That's why you can't afford, in this life, to sulk away in a corner somewhere. If there's something out there that you like, something that you want, you need to stand up and take it.

Who said they're talking to me? If they were talking to me, it'd be all gravy. I love that ♥♥♥♥♥. Chat me up all day. But just staring at me, like I'm an alien creature? it's like, haven't you ever seen tits before? I know I look good, but damn, didn't your mama ever teach you staring is rude?

Whatevs. I shouldn't let it bother me, but it continues to be a problem. Maybe if I didn't talk about it being a problem all the time, though, it'd cease to be one.

Question

Ah. Whereas talking to you would mean they want to see how you are as a person, and not just as eye-candy?

Pretty much. Whatever though. Not much I can do about it.

Keeping with the topic of the thread, I often think about terrible tragedies and become fearful sometimes. Like walking across the park in the dark (with an aardvark... just kidding), suddenly I thought about there being landmines, and me stepping on them.

Wtf? Does anyone else have morbid thoughts like this?

Right now? Actually taking steps forward to a better future.

I love the future. I love my adorably, wonderful life in the future.

Just getting there is a bit scary right now... especially since it means picking up the phone tomorrow and making a call to someone that I don't yet know and asking them for a big favor....

I had this bizarre fear of falling while carrying my son when he was a newborn. To the point that I had nightmares about it and would see myself tripping and falling against the dresser, impaling his fontanel on a corner of some furniture.

It never happened, but jeez why do these things pop into my head?

I used to (and still do) position my legs when I'd sit on a bus, so that in the event of a bus crash my knees would not get broken, as this was my fear!

I have a girlfriend who is even worse than this, and used to fear that she'd get impaled on a bus pole if the bus crashed.

Do you ever just look at guys, like eye candy? Or do you want to get to know every guy you find physically attractive? Just curious...

I like eye candy, and I don't mind being eye candy, as long as the guy isn't being really lurid and sleazy or saying vile stuff to me.

This is boring and not very original. The fog and shadow are like forced symbolism and will only make the reader yawn. Maybe try creating something with identifiable external features, but an undefinable internal disposition.

Yeah, it's the sleazy type I take issue with.

Yeah, I eye people up sometimes. But I'm not a creepster about it. I mean, I'm naturally a creepster, but I try not to let it show too much.

I have a strange lack of fear lately. That's not to say I have grapes the size of watermelons, there just isn't a whole lot that scares me.
Today I had a guy staring at me intently. Where I once would have been intimidated, I just kinda thought, "Huh. There's some guy staring at me" and carried on.

Oh, I was just making a self-deprecating joke on myself. If I had to pick, though, pretty much in the first few minutes of meeting a new guy (in a social setting, not just any person), I mentally size him up. Would I date him? Would I ♥♥♥♥♥ him? Would I marry him?

Pretty ridiculous, but lol-worthy.
