Noooooooo idea about old Australia, but we have public healthcare in Canada. We pay for it through income taxes, so you don't have to give up your life's savings when you go to the hospital. Both private and public systems have their flaws, and neither are morally superior. From the average supplier's view, the private system is preferable. From the average consumer's view, the public system is preferable.
