Default Help for a dear friend (paranoia, depression, ocd behaviour)

Hi All

New to this forum.

This post is about a dear close friend of mine. wasn't sure which section to put this in either.

He is a guy and he seems to be suffering from some sort of mental illness and has done for a while now.
It seems like a mixture of depression, paranoia and other issues.

The problem is, now as a result of this, he is doing strange things, many of which seem like O.C.D. behaviour.
One of the main problems ive noticed with him is that now he doesnt want to talk to anyone.
People try talking to him, and he just ignores everyone, he doesnt want to answer questions,
and when people come into a room, he leaves straight away.

He is suffering from some severe case of paranoia and thinks / assumes people are watching him, or all looking at him.
Examples of this: We were playing football in the street the other day, and a neighbour who we have both
known for well over 10 years came out to talk to us, and he walks straight back in.
Another example is, whenever he is in the kitchen (eating breakfast or making a salad), as soon as someone
else enters the room, he will leave immediately.

He does not want to make conversation with anyone. Me and my whole family have tried doing all for him, to help him
but he does not want to know, nor is he grateful. Also he does not want to listen.

He has a tendancy to just stand in the corridor or his bedroom doing nothing (and speaking to himself).

Im sure there is some reason / trigger to why he has become like this.

The main problem is that he does not admit that he has a problem, nor does he want to talk to anyone.
Also i forgot to mention that he is deaf, so he just turns off his hearing aids or doesnt listen to people
when we talk to him, and he has the ability not to listen to anything unlike someone with good hearing.

The other main problem, is the fact he doesnt want to socialise with ANYONE. Im pretty sure someone has said something
to him in the past that has bothered him, and he has let it bother him.

I dont really know what to do anymore, as he is making the whole family stressed (he lives with us),
and we've all tried to help him, and talk to him, but he wont say anything, previously medication has been
subscribed for him, and that doesnt help (nor the fact he doesnt know want to take it).

Any help / ideas in ways in which i could help him get out of this mode that he has got himself into would be grateful.

Summary: Major paranoia needs to be overcome (that people are all watching him)
Scared of other people (what they think, doesnt want to socialise with anyone)
O.C.D. behaviour
Depression
Deaf (so its hard to talk to him, and get him to actually listen, cos any mention of this problem to him, and he doesnt want to know, and switches off immediately)

unless he is a danger to himself or to others there is not much you can do.

I only thing I can think of is to call a doctor or hospital or crisis center to find out how you go about committing some one for psychiatric valuation some communities have social worker that will visit him. They will probably put him on meds but He been on medication before and dose not want to take them its hard to deal with.
