Default Instantly improve your life by adopting an Attitude of Gratitude

By now, after hearing about it on TV shows such as Oprah, Ellen Degeneres and Larry King live and reading about it in magazines such as News Week and Business Week, many people know about “The Secret”, this amazing movie on the Law of Attraction and how to get everything you want in life.

I want to tell you how I have used what I learned in “The Secret” to instantly improve my life.

You see, since the middle of my wife’s first pregnancy (mid 2003), my wife and I have had some difficult times. The birth of our two children (January 2004 and March 2006) has changed our lives and as a result, our relationship has suffered. At one point, I even thought of a divorce. I also had a heard time at work, questioning my career path and not being satisfied with my job. I came very close to a burnout in 2005. We also took some decisions that put us in debt, thus putting a strain on our financial situation and creating stress and conflicts. Although things had improved slightly since mid-2006, we were far from the early days of our relationship.

Right after watching “The Secret” 2 months ago, I immediately put into action one of the concepts covered in the movie … be thankful and grateful for everything you have in your life!

So, instead of complaining and thinking about what I didn’t like about my wife, my job, my life and the debt like I had been doing for the past few years, I began being thankful for my wife’s qualities, the elements of my job I enjoy, our beautiful children, our house and everything else I have in my life. I have adopted an attitude of gratitude … 24 x 7!

The positive effects have been instantaneous! This very simple change in mindset has turned my world up side down!

Now … I wake up every morning with a smile on my face looking forward to the day ahead. All day, I approach everything I have to do with a positive attitude. And I go to bed at night with the same smile being thankful for all I have in my life and visualizing what else I want in life.

I feel joyful, relaxed and in peace … I feel good! This sense of well-being even helps me deal with the many stressful situations I face at work and at home in a much better way.

And guess what … since I have adopted an attitude of gratitude, the relationship with my wife has been transformed. It’s like the first few weeks of our relationship all over again!

All this, results directly from a very simple change in mindset.

Go ahead, adopt an attitude of gratitude … you will see the positive effects right away!

René

Rene,
It's very true. The difference it can make in a person's life by learning to be greatful for everything we have, and the lessons we have learned in our lives.

To me, every day above ground is a great day with a million things for me to be thankful for.
And as well, in those REALLY tough times, when I feel like I just want to lash out at my spouse or kids, or anybody at all, I take a "time out" for myself, and think about all the good things in my life. I think of everything I'm greatful for and all I have to look forward to. It is very calming, and helps me to center myself again. To get back to be forward looking instead of dwelling on all the seemingly negative things.
There are far too many wonderful things in life to dwell on all the negatives! I am so glad to hear of all the positive changes for you.

hi rene, it's very nice to hear your story. I've learnt about gratitude theory quite a while ago and start learning to apply it. But sometimes I burst off before I try to control my emotions.. haha.. and regret it later.... i'm still trying and stories like yours are my inspiration.

Hi rene
Nice story,
Gratitude is a great place to start living positively from, as it can only be accessed from the now present moment and built on in every future opportunity that follows. I believe "Gratitude" is the positive platform from which all positive pure desire is launched. Our emotions are all powerful.
Our restrictive reasoning too often overlooks our emotions. This misconception is a child of being trapped by our own circumstances.
Two cents worth
Simon

Hmm... I really hope I can learn from this. My family life right now is a mess, I'm doing horrible in school, my friends and a person I love are currently drifting away....

But, if being grateful for the best in them, and the best in my life can really bring them back, reverse all this... then I think I'm going to follow your example. Starting now.

Thank you.

Hi Heatsaber
I said earlier that "our emotions are all powerful" but I must qualify that statement with " they are all powerful but are still only a tool for us to help us draw closer toward our pure desired outcome".
When we walk towards the good feelings we will start to discover who we really are. Ask the question "which direction makes me feel the best in this situation?" Only you will have the right answer to your question.
Simon

Hey

I watched the secret (the half of it) yesterday and I liked the gratitude stone idea. Most of the time I wear a pink quartz around my neck, and now i use it as a gratitude stone. It makes me feel good.

Nice post .

I'm really happy to notice so much people getting better from sites like this one, movies like the secret, and books like LOA and such.

The world is one great place of inspiration, ready to transform into a heaven on earth.

Happy greetz from Belgium !
