Arrow Unearthing subconcious beliefs

Most of what holds us back in life lies hidden away in the subconscious mind. "Subconscious" means that we are not even aware of this crap. All that we know is that some invisible hand is holding us back.

I just found this question on another board I frequent:

"What is the single most powerful belief that limits me and keeps me from my intentions?" (James Arthur Ray)

This is actually a good question with which to begin the digging. Nathaniel Branden's sentence stem completion exercises are another good technique for unearthing those now subconscious beliefs we inherited at a very young age from parents and other caretakers.

Have you worked on this?

Have any tips to share?

I would have to say, that my biggest limitating belief is allowing the past and future (especially the past) to somehow define my present moment reality.

A place of time that does not really exist (to me) affects the only place I seem to be real, right now.

Events that have happened in the past (especially the painful ones) have established strong subconscious beliefs, that run through my mind, like you say, without me realising it.

If I could wipe them out (I'm working on it by focusing on now and only now) then the path would be easier I think.

In the last few weeks I've managed to wipe out many thoughts of past mistakes, so that's good and by thinking as often as I can about how I want this moment to be, that also helps establish new beliefs.

So my tip of the week, would be to wipe the (past) slate clean and start reprograming the present, in the present.

HTH

Jeff

If I wipe out the future then there is nothing to work towards. Everyone needs a "True North" which tells them whether or not they are heading in the right direction.

Yes I have been thinking about our core beliefs of course.
It’s taking time to eradicate old thought and behavioural patterns “guided” by these core beliefs.

Branden’s Self completion is interesting – kind of self analysis, helps to bring thoughts from the subconscious mind about who we think we are, what we are able/unable to do, on how world should be, how others should behave in gneral and with us, etc.

A skilled therapist listening between lines can put a finger on dysfunctional core beliefs as well.
Usually there are no more than 3-4 issues to be repaired.

I have discovered the Emotional Freedom Technique - EFT in January and must tell you this is quicker tool I know to discover what hold us from achieving what we wish.

Tapping and listening carefully what comes, how connections from the surface level (language) into subconscious mind are made,
round after round, layer after layer, the subconscious mind allows into the consciousness bits of information – and you discover unhelpful core beliefs that hold us. Tapping at the same time makes that this core beliefs gradually change.

I have noticed that if a thing to be discovered is potentially painful and you are not ready to hear it, the “bit” maybe very little to protect us from too much reality as humans are not equipped to bear too much reality at once. Why patience is good. Sometimes you “feel” without “understanding” the underlying meaning. Just keep tapping. Sometimes we do not need to know what holds us. Dividing issues into its “aspects” (beliefs, souvenirs, mental images, people, emotions, …) and Tapping aspect after aspect makes that the issue simply evaporates.
yoo-hoo !

For example, my core believes about money:
“Alone (without my ex, without others around) I will not be able to succeed”
“I need others help me”
“Others should help me”
“Money is an affair of adult”
“Adults care about responsibilities, money, …”
Subconsciously I am convinced I am still a child…

Wow, it was very surprising for me to realise this and I am now “working” on this complex issue.
And I notice this is exhausting and some days I just avoid Tapping EFT on it.
I think the brain needs to integrate something in the system is changing.

In a daily life, I notice my behaviour changes just a little on this issue.
What I observe is that during the day I am much more aware of thought patterns and
I observe how I am still hold by them and STILL DOING WHAT I DO NOT WANT !
So, even if you are aware of what holds you back, does not mean it will change
right now. But I feel being on the right track.

It is taking time to apply the EFT on this issue and then do same on installing positive, empowering beliefs – ‘I can…”, “I chose…” - and I have just started to learn the EFT.

I notice kind of resistance – even if you know the problem and you know how to get out of it and what to put instead, I did nothing today …

Good time to be grateful and enjoy this opportunity to share our experience here :-)
