Question Resolving Inner Conflict

I don't really want to go into details so hope you can offer some guidance despite the ambiguity in the post.

How do you resolve inner conflict? When you have two parts of yourself that you are unable to bring together to work in harmony?

So say one part of me is about comfort, security, safety, warmth and protection ......... so much so that at times it becomes an almost unhealthy smothering of self through over indulgence, lack of discipline and can verge on addictions etc.

Then the other part of me is about exploration, personal growth and leading the life I am capable of leading. Which I step into quite frequently and when the temperature gets too hot - step back out into the other part of me?

Even though these are two parts of who I am - I find that they can't coexist in harmony without almost "shaming" each other for who they are and what they represent.

Reading that through makes me sound like I have some sort of split personality But I guess I am just talking about two facets of my personality that can't seem to coexist comfortably together.

Any ideas?
Mabs

NLP Parts Integration technique. You can find examples on youtube.

p.s... I just noticed that Tim Brownson has a post on his blog about this very issue, with a step-by-step guide: It's ok, you're not nuts.

Thanks for that link Angela - I think I might give that process a go. I've tried some "visual squashing" - felt better at the time but not really got into any lasting change.

Thanks
