Default Opposite of Fear is Curiosity

How about this perspective, Opposite of fear is Curiosity.

Whenever I am trying to massively change in different areas of my life, I am always having lot of fear, uncertainty, unclarity, unpredectability. And i think if i use curiosity as guide and go whereever it leads then the proces can be less painful.

Fear only has an opposite if you choose for it to have one. Someone may say Fear and Love are opposites, but emotions are far more complicated and circumstantial. Yet they are also very general, archetypal and recognizable. It is not 'truth' to say, "x is the opposite of y". It is truth to say "x is the opposite of y in this circumstance, provided you agree and it works".

There are actually a LOT of emotions we have to above poster, if you've ever smoked weed you'd be overwhelmed by the different emotions you have for different things, I think this is why making "musical landscapes" works.

If you've ever read the power of now, it says all emotions are derived from one basic emotion which isn't unlike pain. Its a mechanism for survival. I'm not sure how true that is, but the following IS true, emotions are caused by subconscious thoughts and rationalizations, and thus if you simply STOP THINKING, you stop making new emotions. Also when you see yourself having an emotion, SEE it along with your thoughts, don't give into it, just see it, and it will eventually dissipate since you aren't feeding it with your attention and thoughts.

I've also followed something that steve pavlina stated in one of his articles, the courage to live consciously. When you are scared of something and then avoid doing something b/c of it, you are living like an animal, you gave into the fear. If you are having a fear which is unfounded in fear's true purpose and is actually counter intuitive (like fear of talking to a girl), DO the opposite, let fear be your guide on areas of your life you need to work on. To do this and cancel out the fear you have to cultivate courage, and to do this you do things that you are scared of, from things that are least scare to most scary. You can also go head on and submerse yourself in the fear, and you will have very profound and quick growth in doing so, but if you are too horrified of doing so, then you have to take baby steps and "work out" your courage with things you aren't too scared of and slowly move it up. Like a muscle courage has to be maintained btw...

i'd have to say i agree to an extent that fear is somewhat curiosity. Because we fear of what can happen. Also that we are curious about what the fears bring.
