Default Positive Music Ideas

I would love to hear some ideas for positive music. I have always liked rock music but as you know some artists are obviously more uplifting than others. I need to update my collection and would like some ideas guys, thanks!

Try Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros. Very inspirational.

And of course you can't go wrong with songs like 'Eye of the Tiger' and 'Simply the Best'.

Cool I'll look that up. I've already got eye of the tiger blasting from my iPod during workouts

'In A Big Country' (Big Country). Like 'Eye Of The Tiger', this one never fails to have a positive impact on me.

Michael Franti and Spearhead especially "Everyone Deserves Music", a great inspirational album from front to back.

Default Old music

I love Boston. I find a number of their songs quite uplifting. I particularly like "Don't look back" and "Peace of Mind" for motivation.

YouTube - Swades- Yuhi Chala Chal Rahi

Its in hindi but there are subtitles -its a great song and the lyrics were written by a poet.
where has the heart brought me
what dreams has it shown me
every dream comes true when the fires of love are lit
the path you choose of your heart
you will find pearls in every oyster of time
when you listen to your heart
keep roaming thus oh traveler

I checked out the link, and the song was great!

For my favorites, I'd have to say You Are Loved (Don't Give Up) by Josh Groban and the CD A Gift Of Love (Rumi's poems to music) if I''m in a spiritual mood. I like Leaving Port and Take Her to Sea, Mr. Murdoch from Titanic beacause they remind me that something positive and powerful is about to start in my life if I want it to. The Rakes of Mallow by Leroy Anderson and Perpetual Motion by Philip Glass are good if I want to feel light-hearted when I feel weighed down by everything. And those are only a few.

Here are some suggestions of music that I have found to be empowering, positive, and uplifting. Please consider that subjectivity plays a role in my enjoyment of these. It is possible that you may not care for them or even find them to be positive.

I used the following format:
Artist - Album - Song

Where no song is listed, I think the whole album is valuable for the requested purposes. Asterisks (*) point out songs that make me go crazy and want to run around the block with positive energy.

Philip Glass - Glassworks
Arcade Fire - Funeral - "Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)", "Wake up"*
Baby Dayliner - High Heart and Low Estate - "Raid"*
Bach - Brandenburg Concertos - No. 1 and 3 especially
Bjork - Homogenic - "All is Full of Love"
Blur - 13 - "Tender"
Brendan Benson - Alternative to Love, Lapalco
Cornelius - Fantasma, Point
Fiona Apple - Extraordinary Machine - "Extraordinary Machine," "Waltz (Better Than Fine)"*
Garbage - Beautiful Garbage - "Silence is Golden,"* "Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go!)," "Parade"
The Go! Team - Thunder Lightning Strike - "Feelgood by Numbers," "Huddle Formation"*
Green Day - Angus Soundtrack - "J.A.R."*
Hepcat - Scientific
Interpol - Antics - "Not Even Jail," "C'mere"
Johnny Cash - American III - "One," "Field of Diamonds"
Moby - Everything is Wrong
Muse - Absolution - "Butterflies & Hurricanes"
Nat King Cole - Greatest Hits - "Pretend," "Smile"
Philip Glass - Einstein on the Beach - "Knee 5"
Postal Service - Give up - "Such Great Heights," "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight"
Red Hot Chili Peppers - By The Way - "Universally Speaking," "Can't Stop"*
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream - "Today"
Smashing Pumpkins - Machina - "The Imploding Voice"
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie - "Tonight, Tonight," "Muzzle"*
Steve Reich - Music for 18 Musicians
Stevie Wonder - Innervisions - "Higher Ground"
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life

I realize there is a whole lot here, so maybe you will be able to give a preview listen on the iTunes Music Store and find those in which you are interested. I am certain you may know some of them, being a rock fan. In either case, I hope it is not an overwhelming amount. I am a bit of a music person and there is even more I could add, but this is what I found after looking through my collection.

Thanks,
arran
