| A couple of years ago I worked under a toxic manager who did a real number on me. It wasn't a pleasant experience and I wonder if it had some lasting effects on me. I swore to myself I would never e v e r be treated like that again. Fast forward to present day. My current boss is great couldn't have asked for a better person to work for. However the nature of my work puts me into conflicts with other mgrs and persons of authority in my company. When these other mgrs start acting like my old toxic boss did I get tense and prepare for a verbal brawl. It's a defense as a result of how I was treated in the past. Also, I limit my work opportunities based on who I might work with. If I know the mgrs are on a power trip, I avoid them. Not b/c I am scared of them but because I have no time for such people in my life any more. Again, I won't be treated like that again For those who have worked under a toxic manager; How did you recover once you were in a new job, did you react the same way?? Am I over reacting?

| I had a toxic manager a couple of years ago too. She made my life hell. I know what you're saying, but I also don't think you're over it yet. The fact that you are now avoiding people like your old boss, means that you've run away, but not figured out how to deal with those types of people. Ask yourself these questions: 1. Who did my old toxic boss remind me of? 2. Who did I become when with the toxic boss? Think on those questions, and you'll be part way there to knowing at least why the toxic boss was so toxic for you. I'd suggest you then do EFT (check my homepage) on that, until it bores you! THEN you'll be over it! Joy to you! Hazel
