| Hello, as Steve said, your purpose is not something you are born to accomplish but rather generated. it's like the consequence of all your life experiences... mine actually is "creativity" I thrive to see creativity in everything. i want people around me to see it with me. I annoy my friends with cartoons I'm still watching on cartoon network, I spend a lot of time admiring CSS galleries, deviant art pictures, gfxzone.org, etc... BUT I'm still not able to define my purpose. it stays at "thriving to see creativity in everything and communicate it to the world" can you give advice please? I writing my resume and CV and I need my purpose to know which words suit better. |

| The purpose on your CV is not your life purpose. The purpose on your CV is a short statement on why you want the job that you are applying for. According to other posts, you want to do web stuff. So... and example might be: Purpose: To join a web development and design company that allows me to fully utilize my creative energies and focus. |

| That's a good purpose for a resume. If you want to ask yourself the deeper question though, I recommend the book "Is your Genius at Work" by Dick Richards. |

| nvictor, From someone who works with HR people all the time i don't personally see the point of a purpose on a CV, I know a lot of HR consultants think it's pretentious as CV's are mainly judged on professional experience and higher education. On the subject of your life's purpose the more you write it down and think about it, and then test it against your life the clearer it will become. And maybe it's not a case of putting it into one succinct little phrase but more a full description of who you are. Lots of love, Colm

| I have to agree with Doku. In the same vain I also think that your life purpose is something deeper than what meets the eye. Purpose means "why". Your life purpose therfore is "why" you are here. We come to this earth with 'sealed orders' and we simply need to discover within ourselves why we chose to come here in the first place. In many ways your purpose is not something you find as much as it is something that finds you - you simply need to notice and put the pieces toghether. The things you love, combined with all your circumstances and events will soon add up and start painting a picture within which you can see yourself and how there's a common thread that's running through your life. Self Actualization, as Maslow pointed out, is when your life fulfills your purpose. Probably the most powerfull way to make contact with your purpose is to reconnect with 'spirit' which is what you really are. As you stay connected and keep looking you will inevitably discover what you are here for. I believe that this is probably the single most powerfull thing you can do in your life. Purpose is power! When you know 'why' - the how to's fade into insignificance and your life becomes an expression of 'why' you are here. You might want to read the following article: Find What You Love »
