That was really a great clip. SO true. We are very ridiculously spoiled, atleast I know my generation is. I know people use the excuse, "well this is what we know and what Im used to,so.." Too funny. I bet we can come up with so many other comparisons that show how spoiled we are these day.

I love Louis CK. He's a great comedian. He has a point in this video, but even though things are amazing, what have we done to get to this point? All the evil acts done to get us to the world today, the coercion we live with every day. The manipulation we deal with from the media, maybe that's why we're not happy. It's not about being able to fly on a plane, but the very fabric of our society that makes us happy or unhappy.

What a bummer of a post their.. Andrew I've talked with I believe you about this idea before.. so this time I say.. "no comment" I disagree with the idea that were "ridiculously spoiled" we deserve everything we want.. if we want our life easy.. where we don't have to kill animals or drain our own sewage or leave our computer.. we very much deserve whatever we want.. But I get the jist of the video without watching it.. it's a comparison and comparisons are good for us to acknowledge how much we prefer our lives to those lives off suggested higher pains.. |

The media... Society... They're scapegoats. If people want to know why they're unhappy they need only look in the mirror. I understand how easy it is to blame the modern world, though (I've entertained similar thoughts). It's designed to victimize the thoughtless. But who are the thoughtless but those who submit to unthinking lives? If society is mad then leave it and live where it has no influence. If the uncivilized life isn't for you, learn the intricacies of its workings and manipulate them to your ends. But whatever you do don't lie down like a kicked puppy. We are not powerless, not a one of us. We can only stay miserable by rejecting responsibility for our own fulfillment. |

I never even allow myself to feel discomfort when the power cuts or when there is no running hot water in the shower - I feel that all these are luxuries, and the only things necessary for comfort are personal freedom, air (with negative ions in it), water and some food. And something to do.

Lets make people feel guilty for being unhappy, that will get the good feelings flowing. Call them spoiled, that should help. Everything has ALWAYS been amazing, but certain environments make people happier. The main thing for happiness it to feel capable of avoiding or mitigating painful stimulii. I think that's why religion boosts happiness and airplanes don't especially help. |

To me, this video encourages the ideas of being grateful. It's not about airplanes or technology or what-have-you, it's just about the idea of... hey, what are we complaining about? Are things really so bad? Let's stop the drama and enjoy the wonderful lives we have!

I remember this video, it's funny. You know, planes, PCs and material things are not gonna makes us happy. The most surprising thing for people that travel to Africa is that they see that people there is happier than here. So the one who travels feel he receives much more than he gives. Even in the poorest countries. Actually there are "happiness ranking" of countries, and no-one of the best ones is a rich one at all. It's not about things, it's about people, relationships with people, that's all. Relationships with people in a private airplane o Ferrari or in a small wood ship. The "first world" has more things to learn from the "third world" than viceversa. Though there is much courage needed to accept that. Too much pride about not important things. Relationships between people in the rich world are definitely not "amazing", so not everything is amazing. |

Great clip and so true... We live in a world of instant gratification and we want it all now. It's a shame because we don't appreciate the little things in life anymore. But I like to add that gratitude is one of the keys to being happy in life and having gratitude for all the things you have in your life.
