| In a time of change and transition, when we can no longer find comfort in following the status quo, in following a peer group (our friends are changing), in certain ideas (our beliefs are changing), in 'home' (we're moving or traveling), in our work (we're evolving and opening up to new forms of contribution), are there certain thoughts, ideas, beliefs, people, routines, etc, that help to give you a sense of stability? |
| |||
| Yourself. I think 7 Habits talks abuot this issue, too, peripherally. For me, I recognize that I am constantly in flux, and that's a part of my identity, that I am constantly unconstant. It's strange, but knowing that I can change and I am changing and that I will continue to change gives me a lot of stability. Sometimes it's just the sort of hope I need to believe that I can change a situation, or the grow out of a situation.

| Your sense of stability need to come from knowledge that you are a creator of your own world, and that you created all the changes in your life for a reason. Usually we create changes in our life because we need a room to grow.

| Good ideas. I generally find stability (or reminders of my own inner stability) from ideas, in spirituality and also from values, like an inner compass. I try not to attach much weight to people or places, but to find stronger and more universal markers. Just wondering what everyone else goes to, especially since people in PD probably tend to change or evolve a lot more quickly than others (eg bears). |

| Meditation.

| For me, stability is based on how well I get-to-know myself, how intimately I connect with my character and sense of evolving purpose. This tends to be related to strong relationships with people and connections to Forces beyond me. My own stability is also closely linked with change and embracing uncertainty Last edited by Liara Covert : 02-05-2007 at 07:47 AM. |

| For me, stability is knowing that whatever happens, I'll always be me.

| Knowing that I've been through a lot in life and dealt with it, so that I'll be up to whatever challenges come my way. On a more practical level, my dogs are a great source of stability...

| Accepting the Truth Accepting and making made peace with my own mortality. When you no longer fear death, you are no longer afraid to be alive. |

| For me, I Turn to music for comfort/stability, I play at least 1 hr a day of piano..sometimes even 3 hrs to shake off all emotions to let it all out and express it all through music. Music takes me away from reality.. when i play the songs it allows me dream and imagine. After playing i m feel much better.. if i start feeling lousy I play again.. Hence, i usually play d piano few different times throughout the day. If u cant play instruments..Listen to music! go to d store and check out CDs and all types of music. It works for me.. i hope tis helps |

I love the idea of music as being one of the channels for connection to the superconscious.. along with meditation, exercise, etc. Definitely a great element to have in your routine! |

| Yes. Music does connect to higher consciousness. Its great! Go for it!! I find going to gallery spend few hours there looking and admiring. The Artists spents months on just one that one piece of painting. I often think to myself,,what the life is like for artist at that time. What their life is like. Sometimes i m absorb into the picture. The pictures itself takes me into a completely different world. I go to the gallery alone..Its great. It gives me stability. It takes u away from sadness and confusion and it stops me from thinking about my current problems. When i m in the gallery I stop thinking about myself.Its strange i dont know how to describe it. "It takes away my focus on my problem and give me a new perspective. Art is also very powerful. Last edited by Angelwings : 02-24-2007 at 10:17 AM. |
