Default What is the physiological activity of the "dread-pang"?

Sorry if that title makes zero sense. What I mean is, you know that sudden feeling of dread or excitement that takes place in the gut, around the solar plexus - it's like a sudden "squirt" or release of some chemical in there, and it accompanies a sudden feeling of dread or excitement or abrupt consternation. It lasts about a second, and then is immediately gone.

Can anyone relate? What the hell is that? It's a fairly distinct sensation.

(The last time I felt it is when I was watching Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao in their boxing match. I was rooting for Ricky)

It could be a release of adrenaline. I don't know. But it's certainly some chemical.
