Thumbs up Power of Dreams

I conducted a small survey - given out here Top 10 Darling of Dreams | Personal Development by Personal Development and Growth Blogger | Mystic Madness .
While i carried out the survey and wrote about the lighter part, I am much concerned how things behave when the dreams get broken. Some dreams have power to shatter the person and make them helpless. Does that mean that motivation should not be based out of dreams.???

any thoughts? seems it is critical topic- which i am realizing now.

seems no one has view on it. Basically i was looking for-- effect on motivation when your dreams get broken and how to manage it.
It happened with me and it took time to recover. maybe some ideas would help.

I think most people have dream some are serious about it some are not. The effect of dream shattering seem to differ from each person depend on how strong their dream was and wheter it is suddenly broken or slowly broken.

I'm trying my best. There are 1. sudden shatter dream 2.slowly shatter dream

examples of sudden shattered dream
- I want to enroll to Harvard (dream shattered after knowing the score wasn't pass the minimum requirment)
- I want to win olympic gold medal ( then lost to another competitor)
- I want to get promote as CEO (co- worker get promoted instead)
- I want to have success in MLM (dream broken after learning the hard truth that it is very unlikely )
- many many others dream that the dreamers are close to archive or strongly believe that they would archive it then they don't .

After these people failed their dream they might be shocked , feeling depress, empty, lost life purpose for a while, turn to alcohol, unable to do anything or even suicide.

Example of slowly shattered dream
- I want to become successful entrepreneur
- I want to gain financial abundance
- I want something......

Most people have their dream broken slowly like this. Perhaps they don't even realize or feel shock about it . People that dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur broken their dream by learning that (they develop an excuse for it) it's not easy, it's unrealistic ,it's a childish dream or they may find something else more interesting or more significant. Then they stop following their dream.

The effect of slowly broken dream seems so little. The dreamer may live the life just as they been living. They may completely forgot about it. They may just accept or having pleasure for what they are now... (I'm sure you see a lot of these people around you )

I think it's all about how you frame your dreams. If you frame your dreams in terms of your passion (eg: "I want to be a doctor and help people") instead of a limiting specific place (eg: "I must go only to XYZ Med School"). You could go to med school anywhere, and you could be a great doctor because of it. If we start out with a rigid idea, we make it harder for ourselves to succeed.

Achieving goals is a series of stepping stones. Each little achievement matters. If you don't get to the exact destination you planned on, it doesn't mean you failed. Maybe you weren't meant to end up exactly in that one school or job, but life is a journey not a destination.
