Belief in strangers than close family ??

I have this wierd problem. I completely believe in others than my own family members, For example, if my husband/mother etc.. told me that such and such thing is good in life, i would question in my mind, is it so,really ? but when somebody else may be stranger,neighbour or someone else says that same thing I would instantly accept that idea...

I guess it should be other way round ? I am trying to understand this peculiar behavious of mine.

Another example, my husband said Giraffe is pronounced as Giraaaff.. and not Giraffeeeee.. I said no, I wont accept it, I am used to the later one.One day in day care I found some other kids parents pronouncing the way my husband pronounced and from then on I took it ,I started pronouncing like the former one..

This is just an example. Or does it take a second opinion for me to believe in something ??

My mom has always been the same way. It generally wasn't very helpful to her or her relationship with my dad.

You should only believe in yourself and only pay attention to what others say when that resonates with you. People make so many mistakes because they listen to other people instead of listening to themselves.

If you really listen to yourself you will understand what you really want in life. Nobody else can tell you that.
