I strongly believe that our whole system, from our bodies to our minds, were created to work together like cells in a larger body. Evolutionarily as well as esoterically this makes sense. Evolutionarily speaking, the humans that worked together, that is loved each other, survived as a unit. Not just tribes: if two tribes worked together, they could become even stronger. In the end, intelligence means realising that we all fit together in a natural balance in which all things depend on each other. I don't believe in Darwinism as used to explain people being naturally selfish. I've seen the theory being used to justify any and every way of thinking, which has completely burnt me out on evolutionary psychology. Esoterically, of course, we are awareness, which is in truth one, and all things are the dream of awareness. Awareness dreamt into being humans so that it could express itself and know itself through them. Love is simply awareness seeing itself in another thing, realising oneness: and humans love each other because they are vessels of awareness. So, our bodies were designed specifically to be vessels for awareness. The vessels must develop themselves to allow awareness to express itself freely through them; they fear that allowing this would be to die, not realising that there is no way they could ever be separate from awareness. Those who hide from the light that tries to shine through them suffer and create suffering. Those who take the leap into death and realise there is no such thing, express the true nature of the vessel. That doesn't mean saintly and passive. It means sexual, passionate, multi-layered, and multi-faceted. Being expressions of awareness, they are microcosms of awareness, containing all things. Your desires are from a body that was created to serve the higher good. Each desire, at its root, is the desire to love in some way. Only misinterpreting your desires and taking them out of balance can make them harmful. Your fear is a gift. If you hide from it, it overwhelms you. But if you look at it directly, embrace it, ride on it, it becomes exhiliration and determination. Without fear, there would be no victory, no glory, and no love. Try this next time you have a desire you feel might be "wrong" or dangerous. Ask awareness, what is the loving purpose for this desire? How can this desire guide you to serving the highest good? Can you serve Love through sex? Through relationships? Through food? Through travel, through war, through living on the streets, through becoming rich? If you think you want to recieve, could it be that the desire you are entangled with actually wants you to give? Last edited by Andrew Gubb; 02-19-2009 at 07:00 PM. |

^,^ Nice, you talk of desire and awareness. I'd like you to add to the equation, the term or word "attraction." desire and fear are opposites but they do attract. ^,^ weird huh but it fits. Desire gives us the drive, awareness keeps us conscious and makes us doubt, think and imagine. Attraction is the sequence of how things flow or the way it is meant to be. (which does not change but may appear different) |

If you don't separate your desire from your need, you may end up a poor man. I have seen people drop dead because they made their desire their priority. Desire is all about "I wish, I wish, I wish" I hope this hurts nobody. Cheers, Raymond Edeh |
