Default letting go ......

attention:this is not a thread advocating drug use

I was thinking about some of the things that magi said in a thread about ego
and
being the deep thinker that I am I had a question

I remember when I was in my early 20's and I was using cocaine
it seems that not only my inhibitions faded away
but so did my fears and ego

I remember dancing till dawn and than going to someones house and having deep discussions about life

has anyone ever experienced this through other means besides drugs -meditation maybe ?

Yes, when I learned to stop judging everyone, including myself. When I learned to accept, love, forgive it all, embrace it all, let go.

I know what you mean about nature

I find that if I am not out in nature for a period of time I get grouchy and when I do I find peace

Sure thing.
YouTube - Into the West

Though there were many things I disliked about the song, when I finally let go and listened to the song on repeat something came to my awareness. I tend to spontaneously trance and I think that letting go in the melody allowed my subconscious to touch my conscious mind.

Looking back on that particular moment I notice it matched recent and past experiences of my life. Most notable was of my actually physically leaving the west, where I had abandoned everything, including myself in some ways.

I've found it interesting how there are many old stories about understanding one's self and that to really grow and move forward as whole beings we actually need to go backwards. Full circle.

Yet, many keep pushing on forward as if they can 'fix' themselves so well that past pains will go away and never rear their ugly heads again. It won't ever go away until that past is mended; loved and let go.

I understand what youre chasing. I used to have the same deep and meaningfuls about life after being out all night as well.

One thing you have to remember though is, the deep/meaningfuls were not as good as you think they were, it only felt that good because you were still high. And at the time having these talks were easy because you were high.

If you really want to have these discussions again you can do it with out meditation or drugs ... just have those talks with someone. Ideally with someone who shares doesnt hog the microphone.

yeh I know it was part the high

I guess what I am searching for is letting go of my years of social conditioning and just be the real me -

I am getting better and improving everyday

I have found that I am a compassionate person that is always eager to learn more
and I love to share my ideas and receive feedback from other compassionate people

I guess thats why I am here
