| I've been thinking about such techniques as EFT. I heard about a technique that exercises the cerebellum to treat learning and other developmental disorders (Dore... or something). Perhaps EFT might work in some cases purely because it exercises the cerebellum. The cerebellum is responsible for i/o, among other things. Perhaps exercising the cerebellum may help with PTSD and other emotional problems. Or even such things as ball games, and juggling. It's just a hypothesis, perhaps there's someone out there who can test it. Enjoy your day, and hope the new year brings you personal growth and prosperity. |

| I'm wondering if you have every used EFT and have experienced it for yourself. What is your experience of it? I don't think it works purely by exercising the brain. I work with people using EFT and other energy techniques and nearly every time I say to a client 'show me where you feel that thought in your body' they point to a specific location where a thought physically hurts them. Often it is the stomach, or heart area, but can be hands, legs, feet, back etc. This isn't a metaphor, the thought hurts a location in their body. What I believe is that this pain is caused by stuck energy that ought to be flowing freely through the body, but isn't. It is stuck and the pain from the blockage brings it to our attention to deal with an heal. What we then do is use EFT, or other healing techniques and often the pain either starts to disolve, or it moves and creates a pathway out of the body. They can then think that thought, and feel no pain or emotional distress as the energy of that thought flows freely through them as it is meant to. If the cause of the blockage energy stuck in a meridian line, as you tune into the energy of that thought and bash the end of the meridian line (the points you tap on) you get the energy flowing down that line again. I don't believe that it is just to do with what is happening to the brain (although I agree changes must happen there, because people make spontaneous cognitive shifts in their thoughts as they are working). There are physical changes to the energy system and physical body at the same time. Incidently, I say people can locate a physical pain most of the time, because I do come across some people who are so disassociated from their feelings that they don't register anything. It's like the feeling was so painful that they have created a sheild around them so they don't feel anything at all. Does that help you answer your question? To test your hypothosis, we would need more information about what brain exercises you think would create the same relief from emotional problems as EFT. |

| I have written something about this brain exercise perspective in another post. Suggestions for exercises to improve on emotional wellbeing I refer to links about how to exercise this part of the brain. Some examples of exercises include juggling, moving your gaze across your centre, and balancing activities. Basically, anything that allows you to switch your motor movements continuously. The effect of the Paraliminals exercise maybe an auditory version of this technique. Perhaps tapping the meridians affects similar areas of the mind, but in different yet subtle ways, that are as yet unknown from an objective standpoint. Holistic Star and dECLAN, thank you both for your reply. |

| Hi pdnewbie, I don't think EFT exercises the cerebellum as you described it, but I wonder how much we know about all this anyway! I agree with Holistic Star's comments. In my experience, EFT is a holistic experience. I am led to believe there is no divide between mind and body. I've often seen what Holistic Star mentioned - that issues affect both emotions and physical parts of us. When doing EFT on most things, the symptoms are emotional, then physical then emotional, and so on. For what it's worth, EFT has been known to work for ADHD, ADD etc. Maybe EFT helps balance/reset the whole body including the brain? That makes sense to me. If the cerebellum is the part of the body causing the ADD symptoms, EFT would reset the whole body's energy systems, which would cause the cerebellum (and any other parts of the body involved) to start working normally again. The cerebellum exercises sound an awful lot like the exercise my daughter did in the first year or so of school. Called perceptual motor program (PMP), I believe all the schools here do it to help prevent problems like dyslexia. Joy to you Hazel
