Question Do you love/respect yourself?

The question is fairly straightforward. Do you think you are intrinsically worthy of love, or does your self-love rise and fall depending on life circumstances?

I used to "logically" love myself, but was really pretty conditional about it, until I read the Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz. Reading it, something snapped and i felt real self-love permeate me. I've never been the same since.

love to you

Of course. Now, I've been through my fair share of problems that would make most people go: "Oh, he'll so bash himself for this." but I haven't. A good question is though, if you would do something wickedly horrible, should you still love yourself for your act, or should you revise your life and see what went wrong and try and do it right? If so I wouldn't feel wrong for bashing myself for a while so I can look at the problem created from another perspective.

In most cases and most of the time I do love myself. The only times when I may falter is when I feel that I haven't really done my best, or I feel I could have done better.

That sort of feeling is something which really brings me down, but only for a while.

So yes I do love myself. Because it's the first condition to have before you can love others and to receive love.

To be loved, be lovable.

Of course, for those who share the same faith as me, we love God first, then us

Well, i would say i do love myself but not enough i have few problems that need to be changed and made better. I have made decision as of last night that i need to make some changes. Where is the best place to start in the forums? Im talking about self esteem and taking responiblity for your life and mistakes. Becuase i would like to read what other people have done and want to be able post what i have done to improve myself.

I made a choice to love myself, many years ago, and several months ago, it paid off when I realized I had passed the threshold where I could simply say I love myself.

Conditionally. I still get pretty steamed about my lapses every now and again, but then after some furious journalling and a bit of catharsis I find I'm soon all better and know how to advance.

And after getting steamed I'm always careful to write out a list of reasons I rock, just to get my self esteem back up again.

Default Voting No

I think it is counterproductive for anybody to vote no in this poll. By voting no you are reinforcing the idea that you are unhappy. I believe most people here understand that and vote yes just because that is what you are supposed to do. That is what all the books say. In order to be happy you must love yourself. I am voting Yes, but conditionally because I know everybody at times gets upset at themselves and, even if for a few seconds, has moments where they feel no love for themselves. I think it is important to be honest with yourself, and understand that everybody has moments where they feel disgusted with themselves. And everybody has moments where they feel happiness and pure love towards themselves.

Yes, UNconditionally... And I do believe, if you want others to love you, you should learn to love and appreciate yourself first . Especially your other half..., just love and respect you... unconditionally...
