I find EFT is an extraordinarily powerful way to get to original experiences which lie at the root of emotional and/or physical pain which may manifest later in life. In looking for an active forum in which to discuss using EFT I googled "EFT forums" and was led here. Even though I haven't found active discussions about EFT I have found an atmosphere that embraces the philosophy that thoughts are real and that the use of vision and intention can bring about the manifestation of what we need and want. I suffered severe abuse as a child, from prominent, powerful, successful, wealthy parents. I was rendered powerless and subliminally reactive to rejection and condemnation. I must now overcome this. It is difficult as it became part of my brain function on a cellular level. The tools I have selected to help me overcome and move forward are a form of CBT developed by Dr. Jeffry Schwartz and EFT. It is time for me to generate a comprehensive plan for using intention and visualization to move forward. What makes this difficult is that I have been putting out fires without an ordered plan. This has been necessary as my life is so chaotic and disfunctional but it is time to transition. TonyToneTone has given me some suggestions and encouragement and I did draw up an outline based on his valuable points but I cannot address it all at the same time and must find a way to be in charge of my life rather than being run by whatever event or disaster faces me at the moment. I do believe this site is a good place to do that and must commit to reading my list 3xs daily as Tony suggested. Part of the difficulty is that my early life experiences include sabotage by my parents and then complete denial of sabotage but belittlement and condemnation at my failings (that were set up and ensured by their very actions or inactions.) The closer I got to an objective the more significant and certain was their sabotage. That pattern became embedded psychologically and MUST be broken. As I approach success in one area the resistance and self-sabotage become extraordinarily powerful. This is what I must change. I intend to attrack people who understand profound emotional pain and who are engaged in, knowledgable of or interested in supportive techniques for moving beyond the dysfunction. I'm no expert on EFT but I have done a bit of research on it. Given that you already have an affinity for and experience with it, I'd recommend you give it a try to get at these root issues of yours. One of the aspects of EFT that makes it particularly applicable to your situation is that there is no need for a "plan." Pick an issue, measure your level of discomfort, tap away, and measure again. If there's discomfort remaining, tap an earlier instance of that issue or a related instance until your discomfort level is non-existent (or almost so). I think EFT uses the metaphor of a table, with the constructs being table legs. You don't have to clear all the issues but, if you tap away enough instances, the table will collapse, giving you clear space to replace them with constructs that better serve you. It sounds like your life is hectic but EFT is not a time-intensive modality and just might be the thing to use when a "fire" crops up. Good luck! |

Thank you WEllbeing. I do love EFT and find that I can use it whereever I am, especially in the car. I have identified all of the issues that undergird my struggles. I use the EFT to help connect some of my emotional experiences (particularly anxiety, resentment and anger) with the original experience. But the real issue I have is moving forward and getting my life in gear after several years of being stuck. That will definitely take a plan. When I find myself stuck in what I refer to as "resistance" that is where I can use both EFT and Schwartz's 4 Steps but even still there are days when I find doing either of these seem beyond my reach. I must find a way to keep breaking through these periods until that becomes the new pattern for myself. |
