Default Resentment - identified and resolved

Resentment is often held deeply on an unconscious level as a result of being born into an unloving family. Has anyone here been able to uncover deeply held resentments and found a method to resolve them?

I am interested in the methods you used. Would you be willing to share

Inner child therapy...letting go of the ideal and perfect image of parent (s), and making a conscious choice every day to choose peace and joy.
