Well the good thing about EFT is that it's very easy to learn and you don't have to "believe" in it for it to work. So just try it out and see what you think. Don't let other people tell you it's rubbish. I only have a couple of months experience myself but I've used it very effectively to clear a number of smaller feers and inappropriate emotional responses. No biggies yet but I'm working on my allergies. |

I tried EFT for some health problems I have. I wouldn't say it worked for me. Maybe I wasn't doing it right, though. I do believe it works for many people. So it may work for you. Give it a try. It's not like you're chopping your arm off for "instant weight loss." You're tapping on your body.

EFT works best if you have intense issues or a habitual way of thinking that you are having trouble breaking free from. I have used it in the past for intense sadness and anxiety and could lower my level from 10 to 1 or 2 with one or two rounds. Rubbing the sore spot on my chest or hand would help with on the fly stuff that caused anxiety. It is also a good tool to remove any negative thoughts that come up when trying to raise your vibrational level or to remove any resistance you may feel when doing positive affirmations. I reached a point that I could do the same thing naturally without EFT by not assigning so much value to what was happening and by using cooler words when talking to myself. I am new to TAT but the first time I did it, some emotional patterns that started when I was young became clear to me while I was doing it and some pain in my side left immediately. The EFT just got rid of the emotions but the TAT showed me the reason or rut behind the emotions. I'll just go a little more into it if it will help someone. I had a soreness and pain in my right side since my mom had died from cancer in her right side. While she was dying we tried not to express any sadness about losing her. We all did, in order not upset everyone. She was terminal for 7 months but in the last two weeks, when it became evident for the first time that she was going in and out of her mind, the thought of the inevitable end overwhelmed me and I started crying while I was trying to figure out what to do for her. She got so mad at me and told me off for bothering her up with my whining and she was right; I should have left the room but I was so tired of fighting her to get her some medical help. Months after she died while I was doing the TAT for the prolonged grief and depression I was feeling, it came back to me about how when I was 4 or 5 that I used to chase her car down the road where we lived as she left for work. Of course it was dangerous so once when she stopped and I thought she was coming back to comfort me, she spanked me. When she was leaving me this time, it felt the same way. Please, Moma, don't be mad because I don't want you to leave me. Getting mad was her way of trying to help me saying, straighten up and let's deal with what we have to do. (I am not agreeing with how she handled either situation; we sometimes expect too much of our kids and make light of their tears. I just understood better the factors that were hurting me.) I hadn't thought about the first thing in forever but when it came up during the TAT, it was clear I was still holding some of it and that it was adding to my present sadness. After the TAT, the pain in my right side left, clearly a constant reminder of my mom, and hasn't returned. My depression and grief lifted considerably too. BTW, I had tests, CT scan and MRI and nothing was found before I did the TAT. The version I used included references to God and that increased my faith in the method but I know others have used it without those references and also benefited. Both EFT and TAT methods are available for free so to find out if it works for you is easy. |

I tried it to relieve the burden of a serious crush. I was reading and wondering at the feasibility and thinking Ok maybe there's something to this energy flow through the body. Acupuncture goes by this theory and basically this guy says tapping on certain spots can let the blocked energy flow again like the needles of acupuncture are supposed to. So Im reading thinking 'ok... maybe' until I get to this section about proxy tapping. Proxy tapping is tapping on your own body to help the energy flow in the body of someone else. even if they are miles away. you do this by visualizing the person and their problem... now that is complete rubbish. It makes me consider the whole thing complete rubbish but I tried it anyway since it said you dont have to believe it for it to work. Meh... if there's anything there it is placebo effect. It may well be a strong enough placebo effect for it to work on you though. like was mentioned there's really no reason not to give it a shot. |

If you are wondering about EFT, just try it! It takes all of 15 minutes to learn the basics and about 1 minute to apply a round of tapping. This has really made some changes for me and I'm sure it will make even bigger ones when I master all the nuances. Surely anyone can spare 20-30 minutes for something like that. |

Instead of listening to what other people say, if you really want to know if it works, why don't you download the manual for free, read it and then try it and then base your opinion on your own experience? However you did ask for opinions so, in my experience - yes it does work and it works well (with the proviso that you get to the real issue and you follow the instructions). I too thought it was a load of rubbish when I first heard of it, until I tried it for myself and felt the results. |

I've been using EFT for about a year. For me it seems to work best to relieve acute negative emotions like anxiety. If you're interested in reading more, I wrote a post about my experiences with EFT at my blog.

Does EFT work in the same manner that is CBT and NLP? I get the impression that people could visualise tapping on themselves and still receive the effects. Physically doing it produces much better results due to sensations etc. |

I googled EFT Forums today and "re" found Pavlina. I had been here a year and a half ago and now find myself back here by surprise. I have been doing EFT off and on for several years. Initially more off than on b/c I got little results and b/c I found absolutely noone who believed in it. But I found ways to really get at the underlying issues in my life through EFT. I don't give up. To Sanity Panda - most of my tapping is actually done by visualizing. I do this for several reasons: sometimes I do this when I am in public and sometimes I do it at home when I feel paralyzed by something. I thought this would be crazy and actually started doing it before I read about it on the EMOFREE.com website. But I have done much reading about the intersection of the mind and brain and there are documented studies of visualization having the same effects as physically doing an activity. That simply confirmed the theory in my mind. I am not familiar with TAT and will definitely look into it. But the EFT works well for me and helps me get at the deepest wounds that are lost to my unconscious mind. It doesn't happen on the first round but I will work on an issue for days on end. For instance, Saturday night I came down with a sinus infection. I tapped on it and got no relief. I got the word Resentment but could not get to the bottom of it. I have tapped several times a day for several days and finally today, Thursday, I got it and when I did my sinuses cleared up and suddenly I could breath. It amazed me. The underneath that was revealed was an intense self-hatred. I have more work to attach that to a specific memory but I suspect that people often quit too soon. I have done that over the years and have learned to not give up. At times I am so far from identifying anything specific and so I will keep tapping on this vague word until in time I make progress. But I will definitely check out TAP. If it works faster then no need to waste my time. |
