Default Confused..advice needed

So the past year or so I have been working extensively on spiritual books and other spiritual type things. I pretty much engrossed myself deeply and blindly accepted everything I was reading. My question is how do I get back to where I was...to how I was before I engraved everything in my mind. I'm still kinda confused and don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated.

Unlearn what you have learned. Put all ideas you have learned to the test before using or believing them. Some might be true or useful, some might be crap. You are the only one who can tell.

Why would you want to get back to where you were?

The great news is that you don’t have to travel back in time. You can begin now. That’s the only place you can start (or finish for that matter) anyway. Even if you could travel back in time, wherever you landed, it would still be now, right? Now is the time because now is the only time.

What do you want? Really? Do you know?

Default Read the opposite

Hi HI,

I'm sure that in that field there are sites and or books that claim the opposite.
See how that works on your mind.

Good luck,

Peek

I believe there must be good reasons to go back...
When you read lots of crap and you want to clean up your mind.

That's interesting. It's been my experience that the only time I can clean up my mind is now. Why would anyone want to go back in time? To undo something they've done perhaps? Why would anyone want to do that? To experience less guilt and regret and more joy and peace maybe? Well if all that's even remotely accurate, then we needn't bother with HG Well's time machine. One of the things I love about now is that I can skip the time travel part and just generate a joyful life in the present. You generate guilt and regret now and you generate joy and enthusiasm now. I've found that past and future thoughts are literally impotent unless I make them powerful by believing in their reality.

I'm still pretty confused. Has anyone ever been through something like this? Thanks again.

B/c you are clearly sincere about your situation I have read and reread your initial post. It is not clear to me. You ask how can you get back to where you were before you read and accepted everything you read - you can't. You have opened Pandora's Box.

When Prometheus stole fire from heaven, Zeus took vengeance by presenting Pandora to Epimetheus, Prometheus' brother. With her, Pandora had a jar which she was not to open under any circumstance. Impelled by her natural curiosity, Pandora opened the jar, and all evil contained escaped and spread over the earth. She hastened to close the lid, but the whole contents of the jar had escaped, except for one thing which lay at the bottom, and that was Hope.

You write that you are confused and don't know where to start - don't know where to start what? To start getting back where you were before you started reading the spititual books? You really can't. But the question I would ask as a starting point to help you is what is the problem? What problem was created by your reading? While you can't go back - don't forget - the thing left in Pandora's box was Hope - perhaps you can find hope by opening that box one more time.

I think I know what you're going through. Do you really want to go back? Or, is it that you want to see things clear again, in the sense of knowing what your true feelings/beliefs are?

I think the best thing you could do is decide that you'll no longer believe in any of the words you've read. Decide that you'll listen only to yourself, to what you deeply, strongly believe is true.

Don't let your mind be crowded. It's your intuition (or heart) that you should listen to. What you've learned might be very useful, maybe it's not best that you try to forget. Just try to find that which resonates with you. It's sort of like picking the best fruits in the market. ^_^ There are only a few that you're gonna want to eat. So, pick the apples(wisdom) with the greatest shine.

It sounds as though you have taken EVERYTHING you have read and tried to use it all and this in turn has left you feeling confused. It may also have opened up something that is too painful for you to deal with and hence you want to go back and close it up as though it never happened.

One of the mottos I stick by is "Take what I like and leave the rest". Books are just one or possible a few people's opinions and perceptions but it doesn't neccesarily mean it is right for you just because it works for someone else

Hey thanks for your answer. I believe this is what I'm looking for. I do kinda of feel disconnected from my true feelings and emotions. I feel as if there is some kind of void in where my emotions are and what I program myself to feel. I believe if I stop trying to program myself I'll eventually figure out what my true feelings are. Thanks again.

By the way thanks everyone else for your advice.
