Default How to know when an affirmation has "taken"

Hi all.
I'm taking 3 months now to work on my belief system and am using affirmations heavily and a bit of EFT.
Obviously I can't change everything at a time so I decided to start with beliefs related to self-improvement and entitlement to success and then move on to other things.
But how do I know when an affirmation has been ingrained enough?
How do you measure beliefs?

You measure beliefs by their honest result.

Go act upon what you have confirmed in your mind and see what happens.

Adjust from there.

Hello,

First of all, you should not be waiting or anticipating for realization of those affirmations. This is the most important part, in my opinion, of the entire process and the most difficult. You need to let go and trust the process of life.

The best part about knowing whether those affirmations have been ingrained or not is when you just realize it out of the blue. In other words, you've done so well to completely forget about it, that it almost comes as a surprise when you discover that you've actually achieved some kind of positive result. Perhaps this will happen when you find yourself in a certain situation and surprise yourself when you realize that it didn't affect you like it used to. Or maybe you find yourself a lot more grateful for things in your life and praise yourself. Basically, you will know because you will feel a difference.

But please, try not to worry about when the affirmation will unfold or by how much because it will slow the process and take the joy out of that "surprise" moment when you discover how powerful your mind really is.

Froztwolf,

In my experience an affirmation will manifest physically when you begin to take actions that are consistent with your affirmation.

Another way to 'check in' is to notice how you feel when you read the statement aloud. Your emotions act as a compass.

If you feel good then you're on course (ie. your beliefs are in alignment with your affirmation). If you feel bad then your self-limiting beliefs are not in alignment with your affirmation.

Another simple method for changing your beliefs is to use the ideas of Praxis: Praxis means, ‘integrating belief with behavior’. See,

For me, I find a new belief has clicked when it feels like stating the belief is stating the obvious.

For example, affirming My name is Anand seems useless to me because I already know that its true. Similarly, once you feel that affirming I deserve success is like stating the obvious, you know you have it internalized.

As an aside, I prefer to clear out blocks as opposed to doing affirmations. In EFT, I believe this is called removing the tail enders.

Thanks everyone.

Anand: How do you work on positive beliefs with EFT though? So far, I've only seen how to remove negative ones.
When I clear a negative belief I tend to end up with a neutral one where what I really want is a positive one. This is what I use affirmations for.

For an example I will use EFT to get rid of the connection between the mediocre success of past projects and any future ones I might undertake.
However, I don't yet understand how I would use EFT to have myself believe that I can get swift success in any project I undertake.
This is where I use affirmations.

For a positive belief X, ask yourself What stops me from believing X? Then use EFT on the answers to the question. Repeat until no new answers come up. Does that help?

I agree with Nick. Experience is a pretty valuable thing to have. So what better way than trying out your beliefs in the physical world.
