Transmuting Sexual Energy

I've heard a little bout about this hear and there but never read any really informative articles on the subject.

Towards the end of Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, he talks a little bit about transmuting sexual energy. He doesn't give much advice on how exactly to do this. Does anyone have experience with this idea?

I think the general idea is that, men especially, tend to waste this very raw, sexual energy in...er...usually less than productive activities. Successful men throughout history may have been successful partially because they were able to channel this powerful energy into their work.

Are their any visualization or meditation exercises that can help one achieve this goal? I imagine that this kind of energy is probably associated with the root chakra.

Draw the energy upward. Out from the root and into every other part of the body.

I just had a dream about this a few nights ago, or at least I think it was about this. I have never actually heard of "transmuting sexual energy" but it sounds like what I did in my dream.

In my dream, I was looking down at myself laying there, and my root chakra was glowing. There were rays or some sort of "lines" extending outward from it. "Someone" was there with me (and I say "someone" because I don't remember a distinct person or anything), and that person started showing me how to move all of the rays close together until they met at a point in my head. I continued until all of the rays were going directly from my root to my head (with a slight curve in them). It felt like I was playing that game "operation" lol. Anyways, when I woke up I actually felt much better and clear-headed.

Now, if I notice that I have a lot of sexual energy, I try to visualize myself doing this again and it seems to work!

That's quite an interesting dream. I've been trying some visualizations since I posted this and it does work quite well to imagine the energy moving up and through the body. It doesn't really give me a boost in energy, but it seems to boost my motivation and my urge to "do" something. It's a nice procrastination killer.

It was a very interesting dream. I am fortunate to get such useful messages! Also a neat synchronicity (for me) that you posted something about it right after I had the dream.

If what you are doing boosts your motivation to do something then maybe it really is transmuting the energy

I don't know how you visualize it, but maybe try it like this: Instead of visualizing the energy just "moving up," picture your root chakra with rays coming out around it like I said were in the dream (like a sun!). Picture each ray as a solid line. Then, picture yourself bringing them together to your head. Kind of like if your hands were extended out to your sides (horizontal with the ground) and you brought them up to meet above your head.

Look into Chi Kung (Qigong). It's all about how to transmute sexual energy. I posted a Taoist Drop Meditation in the spirituality forum that you might like.

One of my favourite books on the subject is Scholar Warrior by Deng Ming-Dao. It's a little esoteric, but well written.
