| Our subconscious is so powerful. Harboring a negative past can really hamper efforts to change the present. Changing memories would be something like changing events or how you responded to them and creating a positive outcome. I've been researching about changing one's past memories. Our past (which is only in our memories) can create a powerful negative effect on the present. I was wondering if anybody here has tried this or has more information on it? |

| Are you talking about changing your memories or changing how you feel about them? If it is the first option, why would you want to deny what happened? The second option is perfectly valid. In my opinion, memories on their own have no innate value to them other than what you attach to them. During the day if a memory occurs to me I just let it go, noticing what feeling/thoughts brought it up. This keeps me free during the day. Offcourse you can meditate on a memory in order to further explore your related feelings and thoughts if you want to change how you view it.

| Have you looked up any information on retrocausality, Bene? The debate seems to be whether one can actually change the past (theoretically possible in terms of quantum physics), or whether one can only change the past by changing one's memories of the past (since that's really the only evidence we have of the past, right?!). Anyway, you may find more information by Googling the topic. An affirmation that uses this idea quite powerfully is "As far as I can remember, I've always... (had a good relationship with my parents / been wealthy / experienced peace / whatever you choose to affirm)". It's an interesting way of doing affirmations, but I've found it quite helpful to use this form at times.

Changing memories will change how I feel about them because now there are new memories in my mind. They sort of override the old ones. Basically I am doing this because it helps me change the present more easily as that old baggage I am carrying is really weighing on me when I am trying to manifest a new life. Its a strong presence in my mind. Here is what I am talking about: New History Generator - Change Your Life with NLP, Hypnosis and Time-Line Therapy What do you guys think? Thanks Mags, I'll take a look at retrocausality. Last edited by Bene : 07-08-2008 at 10:51 PM. |

| If you just change your painful memories, what have you learnt from them? Nothing. Chances are in the future you will just create a memory that causes you the same problems and consequently you will keep running around in circles. Strong thoughts and emotions are difficult to deal with, but they can be dealt with using persistence. If you can get through it then you will also have the ability to show others how to get through it. If you avoid it then you will be able to show others how to avoid it.
