| A couple of weeks ago I started to commit myself to spotting opportunities in life. They are everywhere! Whenever you meet someone friend or stranger you, for example, have the opportunity to be loving and compassionate or distrustful. The list of possible options are endless. If you are in an argument, you can be calm and professional and mature or ego-driven, reactive and offensive. If someone insults you you have the opportunity to accept this insult and take it personally or to reject it politely and just realise that the person mirrors him- or herself in you and be compassionate to him or her. Opportunities affect emotions and behaviours. I feel this mindset of spotting opportunities makes me more aware of knee-jerk reactions I have either emotionally, or behaviourally. I also try to spot opportunities in the past looking back at events: like did you realise you had the opportunity to be this or that in that situation. |

| Seeing opportunities is, I guess, similar to claiming 100% accountability for your life and actions. To realise that in every situation you cannot control others, but you can choose your character-traits. And these are entirely independant of the other person or if a situation is in your favour. Because character traits are determined by you and not by your environment. E.g. If you want to be compassionate, respectful and caring then this is your choice and you have 100% power to live this trait. |
