Wink New to the board

Hi everyone, I'm Cdrsbloved from IL. I am working through the death of my mother, and the emotional toll of going back to work full time after being a stay-at-home mother and wife for years. I love my job but am having a very hard time with a co-worker and am just run down. I am a happy person and I love life, I am just far too sensitive and I get my feelings hurt very easily. I'm here to try and learn how to cope with this issue of being overly sensitive. It's painful, and it makes me look immature, unprofessional and paranoid. I am excited to be here, and I hope to make some new friends!

Default Welcome

I don't believe that you are too sensative... I don't believe there is such a thing as being too much of anything, you simply are sensative. That is not a bad thing, although it sounds like you may have convinced yourself that it is a bad trait.

What is the issue at work that makes you feel this way? Are you simply butting heads with someone, or is it a deeper issue?

I am sorry to hear about your loss.

Sorry to hear about your loss. It's not easy to get back into the workforce after being away from it so long. If you are feeling a bit run down maybe you can give yourself a treat like a new hair style and outfit and give yourself half an hour out each day to just relax. Being emotional and run down will make it easy to react to things that ordinarily wouldn't worry you. Use the person in the office as a way of keeping you focused say thanks and get on with it.
You could put a bubble around you that protects you from needless badgering. Every job will have one of those ' co-workers' don't take it personally, make it work for you...if you take charge of your own life it doesn't really matter what other people say, although we should give the courtesy and listen to all that comes our way - we don't have to react to it - or act on it. Sometimes it is even useful. Just say thanks, I appreciate it and if appropriate tell her nicely to butt out.
