It's hard to be forgiving. There is anger and there is pride. But it's so relieving to forgive and it feels so good to be forgiven. Sometimes it's even foolish to be forgiving. What are your good and bad experiences? Bullied

I don't think it's ever foolish to be forgiving. Forgiveness gives you freedom and peace of mind. Forgiveness doesn't mean allowing an unacceptable situation to continue. It doesn't mean that you won't learn from the situation. It means that you won't carry the negativity of it around in your heart anymore. It means putting love where the pain was.

I used to be anti-forgiveness. In my mind, to forgive = to condone. Basically, giving the other person a "get out of prison free" pass. And then, I realized that forgiveness isn't about the other person. It's about me, and letting go of luggage. I wrote about forgiving my ex-bf in this thread. In it, I describe the lightness I feel (and still feel). What I didn't adequately describe in the thread - forgiving him also meant forgiving everyone else who has ever "done me wrong." Getting to this point required a lot of pain and suffering - I realized that this anger I held only hurt one person: me. And, did I want to be right, or did I want to be happy?
