Who wouldn't trust this guy? ![]() I've always ignored those type of pages, simply because they are sketchy and so many of them use the exact same layout. Try reading a great book instead. Amazon.com: The Kite Runner: Khaled Hosseini: Books |

Take action. (what action is usually less of a problem, its the one I'm avoiding thats causing the depression) Note this works for me. No idea for other people. Exersize can also cure depression really fast. The same goes for taking a long walk in the open air. The same goes for reading a good book (for me). The problem for me and most people is that during a depression I don't really want to cure it... I am Ok when I'm depressed, basic needs are there. I can eat, drink, shelter is available and there is somebody to give me comfort. I might not be happy, ah well I'm ok though... Thats the subconscious mind talking. The conscious mind goes, CRAP this SUCKs, GET ME OUT OF HERE. Most of the time the subconscious wins though. It drags you down. The thing is take a conscious decision to take action and voila my depression is cured...

I read recently that a guy called Dr Robert Holden ran an experiment on people with clinical depression that lasted a month. The volunteers were given brain scans at the beginning and end of the month to measure change, so they were formally diagnosed as clinically depressed at the start. He gave them three activities to do: 1. Take regular exercise 2. Force themselves to think positively 3. Laugh for thirty minutes a day, every day for thirty days. At the end of the experiment, the volunteers were tested again and their brain scans were so phenomenally improved one scientist asked to have the machines checked. As Freelancer says, most people (and that includes me, because I've had depression most of my life), don't really want a cure. I think there's a movie with Dustin Hoffman in where he says "Of course depressives want to be miserable. If they weren't miserable they'd have to go out and live their lives and be happy!" So now I've made a firm intention to get rid of my depression using Dr Holden's techniques. Regular exercise, forcing myself into a positive mindset, and laughing for thirty minutes a day. That's a lot of Eddie Izzard I'm going to be watching this month! To actually answer your question, that site looks no different to the multitude of "I can get rid of your belly fat with my unique cure!" sites out there. You don't need to pay him money for a three minute cure. Go for a run, go out with friends, watch a funny movie or your favourite comedian, read Byron Katie and Bill Bryson, or put on some great music and dance. In brief, it involved understanding the behavior of the brain, identifying what in the environment was triggering the depression and changing one's strategy for dealing with it ---useful, when combined with other approaches, but not something that, on its own, is going to cure biologically based depression. Is it a hoax? No. I consider it potentially helpful as part of a larger toolkit, but not the magic bullet they are promoting. I returned the product and was issued a full refund within 2 weeks.

I don't know about that product so I can't comment on the worth of the information it provides. I also believe you have received plenty of responses in the threads you created, so information on what you could do is not what you need more of. But this ... and similar expressions in your other threads I have seen all scream "I want something or someone to fix this for me in no time and without efforts on my part". This is your major obstacle. Unless you accept full responsibility nothing will change. You have to let go of the hope that there is an easy solution that won't require work and persisting in the face of unpleasant or even painful moments. You also have to understand that there won't be the _one_ solution that fixes everything. ...edit I reread your last 3 threads. Every one contains very strong and negative words in the headline ("kill" "depression" "terrible"). I think I also remember you talking about suicide "but not meaning" it. You're not only bringing a lot of negative energy with that into this forum, but especially to your self. I find it interesting how people often say things like "LoA doesn't work" when their experiences seem to line up so neatly with the threads they post. One could argue that LoA appears to be working perfectly for you since you are talking about negative things a lot of the time (at least on this forum). Skip that guy's stuff and buy this book. A better use of your 3 minutes. It works well when you actually implement it (but don't all books?) Amazon.com: Three Minute Therapy: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life: Michael R. Edelstein,David Ramsay Steele: Books |

don't we all want things to be easy ? yes we do why wouldn't we suffering is not our goal in life unless we are masochistic there is genuine help out there books and videos have their place but you have to act upon it I acted by getting off my couch and going to see my MD for tests and cognitive therapy now if I want to lift my mood I will watch a funny movie ,read an inspiring book or just act like a kid -jump on a trampoline or go to a water park ..... without depression you would have a different story to tell you would wake up each morning without despair-the veil over your eyes and the fog in your brain would be lifted and you would be able to see all the beauty and potential in yourself and the world |

The best way to get over stress and depression is to take a break from your regular schedule, go out, and take good sleep. This helps in clearing the mind and try consulting a specialist who can suggest you as how you can get over your problem. There are various prescription drugs to get over anxiety and depression, but these should only be used in accordance with the instruction of a physician. There is a lot of fake selling of such medicines on internet, so before you can order it online just make sure it is a real pharmacy.

Depression comes in many forms and is often not something you can think your way out of. However, its true cause, I believe, does come down to one single thing, which I wrote about in a post called "The True Cause Of Depression" on my own blog (link below). No easy, pat answers to how to overcome depression (different from treating its symptoms) but I think understanding its true cause is quite useful. I hope any curious enough to read my post find it useful. Alex Happiness in this World |

Motion, because motion = emotion. And intellectual stimulation, because a large part of depression is usually a lack of coherent thoughts. Even more important is that we take action towards goals that we actually care about. But sometimes, I think eliminating the symptoms of the depression can be a decent goal in itself. For people who just want a quick boost to get themselves moving, why not check out some personal development videos on youtube? Try Tony Robbins or Brian Tracy.

I like this better than most. Exercise, think positively, and laugh. Does it get any better than that? Then go out and DO! By the way, how do you teach yourself to think positively (I think they have been trying tht since the '50's)?
