Default Numb....

I have felt very depressed/anxious for a while and now all of a sudden I feel literally numb. Detached/disconnected from my body, literally feel like I'm on some type of drug...physical and emotional numbness. What is this? What can I do? I think it's a sign that I can't keep going on the way I'm going, but I don't like not feeling anything either. Help!

I think that's very normal, hazerfazer; a protection against what feels like unbearable feelings. You don't have to protect yourself forever. Once you've given yourself a break by being numb for a bit, and you reconoiter your resources, you can take a bold look at exactly what it is you're resisting. You can even do that from within the protection of numbness, if it's too scary to go right to the pain immediately. When you look at it from a detached point of view, you can see that it's just a thought. The pain comes from believing that thought, and you don't have to believe it if that doesn't work.

When you're ready to be present to the pain and the message it's trying to send you, you'll have access to a tremendous breakthrough.

Good luck, and lots of courage to you.

Angela

Hazer, it's completely normal to start to feel numb after a while. It's definitely a sign that your body, not just your physical but emotional body has had enough. The best thing you can do is try every day to move in a positive direction. Do things that make you feel good and eventually you can build up the courage to face the thing that have caused you pain.

I wish the best to you overcoming this troubling period in your life.
