Default Depression sermon.

While I am still struggling with depression myself and having my doubts about God , I thought I would share this anyway...

It is from this video....Dealing With Depression.wmv

Notes from a sermon I heard about depression.

Depression usually comes with an event, when something happens.
One key to understanding and getting through depression is to acknowledge that
there bad things that are going to happen in life; that life is not always a bed of roses.
You must realize that your life isn't going to follow a set script!

Process that leads to depression

1. Feelings of Hurt
2. Feelings of Loss
3. Feelings of Rejection
4. Feelings of dissapointment
5. Getting angry at the situation and/or the people involved and/or God
6. Feelings of Lonlieness
7. Self-pity (feelings of worthlessness)
8. Depression.

God says "the journey is more than you can bear..(depressed person's name here)... you can't do this yourself." Jesus Christ says "let me Carry your burdens." God provides for your journey.

The way God fixes the depression.

1. He gives you hope. God reminds you that your life has a purpose through Jesus Christ.
(If you want to stay out of depression... you need to find out how to live according the purpose God gives you in Christ)
2. God reminds you that you aren't alone that there are people to help (to genuinely help) (also he reminds you that there other people in the world who need you just as much as you need them.)
3. God gives you a chance to adjust (to realign) your thinking.
