I guess not every year can be great. I had one year where the hamster died, my Dad was very ill in bed, everyone had to work and then to top it all I ended up with an appendicitis in hospital! As I'm a December b-day I also spent Christmas morning in hosp!

Would love to hear what happened.

I spent a birthday in a hospital one year. My mother got really sick and was in ICU and we didn't know if she was going to make it. My family made it up to me, by taking me out for dinner.

All I ever do for my B-days is have cake and go to a restaurant.

I don't even feel the need to celebrate, just feels like a day. Since it is a normal day, "bad" things can happen, but its up to you to make of what is.

What expectations did you put upon your poor birthday? Maybe it had stage fright because of those expectations?

Maybe your birthday had a horrible coollikeme?

I've had bad birthdays before. My solution to them is to resolve to do better on my half birthday.

My birthday is in January. Here in Minneapolis, that pretty much equates to the time of year when the world is enveloped as a frozen tundra.

Last year, everyone forgot my birthday- even my Mom forgot to send me a card. The way I was raised, Birthdays are as important as Christmas itself...

Needless to say I was a little devastated. But rather than get all upset about it, I moved it to July, so I could have a good ol' fashioned Barbecue. (I love a good BBQ........ REALLY....)

A bunch of my friends and family turned out, and it was a really great celebration. It went to show that while the day itself was important, the celebration could occur at any time and place.

So, Happy Birthday, Coollikeme.
