Default The Tolle Challenge

This is the challenge.

Destroy your ego, the false sense of self.

Toss a nuclear bomb on top of your mind.

You go to this website: Eckhart Tolle

You buy ALL of his audio products.

You go to this website: Apple

And you buy an iPod.

You put NO MUSIC on your iPod. You listen to Tolle relentlessly. Relentlessly.

Whenever you can, you listen to him. You fill your brain with his voice.

You get industrial about this. This is not self-help.

This is self-destruction.

You do this for two months.

Then you take a fortnight off.

Then you do it for two months.

Then you take a fortnight off.

You continue this process.

In the beginning you will find yourself resisting it.

You'll find yourself restless listening to such a funny sounding guy.

After a while you'll stop listening to the words.

And then something magical happens.

You start listening to the silences between the words.

The guy has so much clarity and being.

He is truly in the now.

In his own words (or perhaps my words) 'a field of consciousness arises'.

Listening or reading together with Tolle brings awareness into your life.

More then you can imagine.

I love Tolle. He's very good at helping me open that space inside myself. Thanks for the reminder to pop him back in the car again.

"take a fortnight off". Sounds like Seth.

Default You caught me crying....

I was about to start a new thread because of Him!

I am writting this post with tears in my eyes, perharps of a kind of owe I have just experienced mixed with ecstasy, caused while listening to one of His CDs!...

I felt what he refers to as "being", proving that he was not bullshiting all that time. Point is that you need to trust him and follow his meditations.....

There are no words to describe how I feel every time I meditate listening to His CDs.

If you allow him to control your mind, he will take you on a very blissfull journey without return!!! You can not expect results on the first try. You need to keep on listening to him.

For those lucky enough to expereince the state of "being" please do not hesitate to contact me personally. If you found any other easy to listen authors that take you into that state please mention them in a private message.

Alex

Alan Watts has this down as well. I get more from Tolle then from Watts. I

f you wish to understand all this then Watts is better.

Yeah all of these have good 'vibes'.

I don't have much with learning strategies but heard good things about them.

Eckhart Tolle hardcore has been something of the past week and the transformation already is astounding.

I'm in school, so anything that allows me to increase "learning ability" I really like (photoreading, image streaming). I mean, this stuff fascinates me. I read a book by John Taylor Gatto called The Underground History of the American School System or something to that effect (the whole book is free online if you google John Taylor Gatto. That really sparked me to find better ways of synthesizing and learning than the way school provides. Hence Learning Strategies stuff.

The other stuff is more social or spiritual in nature. I was always very logical, so this is like me "rounding out" my personality, so-to-speak.

Yes, you can sense presence driping off his every word. I'm listening to Stillness Speaks now and it's nice. Very nice. It's like instant and daily realignment.

Hi Guys. I am listening to His Audio Book "The Power of Now".

I have read somewhere that "Stillness Speaks" is a follow-up (a step forward) to "The Power of Now"

Is it true? I am about to order it.

Thanks
Alex

Do not consider his work as "follow-up."

Instead, his works are a delving into being. His works are only important in that they awaken YOUR CONSCIOUSNESS and YOUR AWARENESS.

What is important is to saturate your environment (mind) with him so that your are almost continually in a state of stillness.

I'm probably going to offend someone here with this post, so accept my apologies.

I bought The Power of Now as an audiobook a while back, and to me it felt like Tolle had been a very troubled soul in the past, but had found enlightenment (and escape from his troubled soul) through meditation. It felt like a good book to help people in similar trouble he had been to recover and survive, but it didn't speak to me at all.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding it, or maybe it's just not the right book for people who are doing just fine, but would like to improve their life even further.

His work is only important in that it gives you presence.

Don't worry mate, if it ain't for you then it ain't for you.

Perhaps you'll feel drawn to it again on a later time.

Personally I listened to the Power of Now a few months ago and didn't think much of it. More of, this is interesting ah well move on.

This time is different.

Perhaps the same thing will happen to you, perhaps not.

Either way its all good.

The thing is, the words are not what matter. The specific audio books are not that important.

The silence between the words are important.

Thats where the presence comes from.

Thats where you can find yourself.

I enjoy Stillness Speaks more.

One benefit I didn't mention yet is that getting Subjective Reality from Steve comes natural after listening to this stuff for a while.

It suddenly makes sense.

Thats how it was for me though.

I can only speak from personal experience.

If its correct though, then its a universal principle.

Which makes this practice so important.

More important then most think.

Always have fun with it.

Don't force anything.

Hey guys, I have a problem.

I don't want to get rid of my ego, I want to fortify my illusionary sense of self. So far, I've figured out that to do it I need to get out of the now.

But I'm having a really hard time escaping from it. I fill my mind with trivial things, and see worldly concepts and materials as very important. I constantly focus my mind on the future and past instead of the present, but it just doesn't work!

Why would you want to do this?

It will only create more suffering for you.

You sure this isn't the "make Eckhart Tolle and Steve Jobs rich" challenge?

Seriously though, if people did what you described, it would help a lot of people. Godspeed, guys-- realise enlightenment (... and go make Eckhart Tolle and Steve Jobs rich! ).

For those on a budget, I've found Eckhart Tolle's books, A New Earth, The Power of Now, and his 2 disc DVD series, Findhorn retreat, to be of very high quality and well worth it in terms of value.

Terumoto is just creating some high quality parody, I'd say (either that, or he's the person who needs this challenge the most! ).

I've been watching a video from this guy, and I must admit that I'm not impressed at all. Maybe my level of awareness does not fit, or maybe I didn't pay enough attention...

Do you have any link to some "introductional" work of his that will be a better start for someone who doesn't know any of his concepts ?

Ssssshhh I'm in a secret alliance with Tolle. In reality he's a master manipulator, completely from the darkside. The more customers I bring to him through manipulation of the senses the more money I make. So hush you traitor!

Ah who knows, perhaps by creating so much suffering for himself he'll ultimately goes 'ah damn that was stupid' and turns around.

I got this from a few people so far.

You can't really judge his works by watching some vids on youtube.

I know I sound like a broken record championing Tolle.

The truth is, he's just that good.

The books, Power of Now and A new Earth from Tolle are pretty self explanatory.

The thing is, each piece of work from him is stand alone.

Thats because if you where to listen intellectually to him.

That is with your mind.

You'll just hear him repeat the same concept's over and over and over again.
With slightly different language.

The moment you let go of the mind.

Is when the magic begins.

Watching a vid on youtube has one major downside.

You have to LOOK at the guy.
lol

Wow, I thought that was yummy. So maybe we're seeing it from two different awarenesses. I like Tolle, his work doesn't contradict other work that I do (which is rare) and I can let my mind relax and not have to sort through the concepts to pick up the good ones and throw away the denial.

I don't have any links to share. You might try searching the board or even google. Hopefully others that read this thread can add some intro links. I started with the Power of Now on CD.

I understand, some people can not even get it. It is ok. Tolle is not for everyone. Otherwise everybody would live in peace!!! This leaves "space" for competition...Hahahaha!!!!

Take care.
