Cool 5 Ways To Make Your Brain Happier

This article includes 5 ways to make your brain happier and is featured at 4Mind4Life.Com.

1) Rigorous Physical Exercise - Challenging exercise changes the overall structure of your brain. Not only does it change the overall structure for the better, it increases the baseline level of helpful neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin. It also causes the brain to release natural opiates. When your body is exercised, your brain benefits. Exercise alone causes I.Q. increases. Contrary to popular belief, more natural geniuses engage in highly physical activity like rugby and football than non-geniuses. They are also more likely to exercise on a daily basis. Exercise increases the amount of oxygen in the brain and blood to the brain! It also simulates “Neurogenesis” — a process of the brain which produces new neurons a.K.a. new brain cells! By exercising, you are making your brain happier via the production of helpful neurotransmitters and hormones like endorphins, which ward off depression. If you aren’t already exercising, I recommend it — it will make your life better and brain happier! Lace up those running shoes and hit the treadmill!

2) Get Proper Sleep - Do you even realize what proper sleep can do for you? Proper sleep, and by that I mean at least 8 hours of “quality sleep,” causes the brain to recycle troubling thoughts and spark solutions to difficult problems. Deep sleep in the delta brainwave range causes Human Growth Hormone to be released as well as other anti-aging hormones. Make sure you block out at least 8 hours a night and take whatever steps you feel are necessary to get that high-quality, deep sleep! If you need to get that Craftmatic adjustable or new Tempur-pedic to get “proper sleep,” then by all means, do it! …You could be doing your brain a world of good!

3) Eat Healthy Foods — By eating fruits and vegetables, you are actually giving your brain more energy and more vital nutrients to work with than eating a double “McThickBurger.” Eating a double “McThickBurger” will give your brain and body some energy, but a very little amount. You don’t want to eat foods that take away more energy than your body produces (i.e. Chocolate Cake). If you eat “lifeless” food, your brain will lack electrical activity and be “lifeless.” If you eat plentiful food that is full of vital nutrients, your brain will be “full of life.” For example: A chocolate cake contains 1-3 Mega Hz of electrical charges, while a big mac has 5 mega Hz of energy. You need at least 72 to 78 mega Hz of food to meet your brains electrical requirements! So do the math: are you getting enough energy from the foods you eat? Green vegetables provide 70 to 90 mega Hz! Other foods high in energy are fruits, beans, raw almonds, and legumes. Start eating energizing foods & your brain will reward you immensely!

4) Be With Friends – Being around others is proven to make a people happier for the long term. Being with friends gives you someone to share memories with and experience good times with. Life is generally more fun when you are with others and have someone to love, talk to, and even challenge to a stimulating debate. Friends can help guide your life in the right direction. If you don’t already have some good, true friends, I suggest that you make some quickly because “true” friends are always around for moral and emotional support through the toughest of times. By being around others, your brain will reward you by creating happier emotions and will allow you to develop empathy — a great quality which allows you to understand & literally “feel” other’s emotions.

5) Live Your Purpose
– By finding your purpose and living your purpose, you will be able to feel truly fulfilled in life. There isn’t really any feeling that can take the place of fulfillment. You will know when you feel fulfilled because your entire being will resonate with joy, power, and motivation. Everyone has their own unique life-purpose and there are many ways to find it. If you do not yet know your life purpose, you can try this exercise to find your life purpose in about 20 minutes. Living your purpose keeps you happy, focused, and truly “living for the moment.” Your brain will reward you for being fulfilled by releasing joyful emotions and keeping you in an empowered state of mind!

... I've never heard of food being referred to as having "electrical charges" and that eating more food with better "electrical charge" makes your brain... happier.

Then again, I don't do much health research and tend to eat what makes me feel good (fruits and veggies), so I wouldn't know anything about it.

Thank you for this, especially on the food thing. I have been meaning to research for info on the effects of junk food on the MIND (not just the body). This just reminded me to do that.

I just don't understand why so many people are being diagnosed as clinically depressed and needing to take pills. I am trying to blame food but all my friends who are depressed say I am wrong. I don't believe I am. They wanted me to take pills along with them last September but I decided to follow Body For Life by Bill Phillips instead. I have steadily been getting better and I don't have those EXTREME mood swings I once did. I still have bad days, but not lasting for weeks. And, I feel a genuine joy deep within. I credit my spiritual walk and improved diet (meaning, eating nutritional foods, not "dieting.")

Great list.

Default Curious

This is nice information but.....

I'm wondering if you know any effective ways for people to implement these completely life changing habits.

It seems to me that if a person is happy, then they don't need this information.

If a person is unhappy, then they probably don't have the ability to focus their attention, and muster up the will power for a complete life change that you are describing.

Just curious if this information is an effective means to help people. I'm not quite seeing how yet.

Define "rigorous". Does it mean that going for a 30 minute daily walk at a casual pace won't help your brain?

A walk will help you as something to freshen up your mind and allow you to clear you mind a bit. But I think the poster was referring to the affect something like a Navy Seal training coarse would do to your mind configuration.

Thanks for this 4mind4life, it is excellent. I agree with the comment about the food- I have been looking into my own eating habits- not to lose food but to become healthier. It is amazing when you break down what you are putting into your body- even if it is not so bad it could be something full of nutrients and energy instead to keep you going.

I found when I was studying at uni, my brain was clearer after a walk-casual one and really worked better again if I went for an fast walk or a jog.

Nothing about dealing directly with thoughts and emotions???

Aren't these the very source of our unhappiness?

I think a very concentrated physical activity is very useful for clarity. I do martial arts and kata practice gives me some similar benefits to meditation.

Cool, but what are these electrical charges in food? I've never heard of such a thing.

Why are 8 hours of sleep needed? Sleep need depends on each person, some need only 4 hours a night. Also, getting 7 hours of sleep a night is more than enough for the vast majority of people.

Also, care to explain this study? Sleep less, live longer?

Ok got any study proving this "electrically charged foods" theory of your, or whoever came up with it?

I agree with your other points, though. I appreciate your effort of giving advices to other people, i just would like that you come up with proven advices, instead of just saying "get at least 8 hours of sleep" and "eat electrically charged foods!" without telling us where you got that from.

I agree that happy people do much of what you suggest but unhappy people need more than good advice. some ways for an unhappy person to feel happier about life might go more like...accept life on lifes terms. stop always wanting things to be different. get out into nature even for a stroll in the park every day and LOOK out at the world while you are out there in it, not at your unhappy thoughts. keep a gratitude journal every evening writing 10 things that you are grateful for that happened today. Look in the mirror and tell yourself you approve of yourself ,eye to eye ,every morning noon and night. Even when you dont feel it.Its really hard for an unhappy person to commit to things like this but short of going the medicine route there isnt much other than a commitment to some daily practice. The greatest thing an unhappy person can do is to understand that we only have today to get through. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow is not important. Then to promise to do at least something like what i have listed with the intention of getting to a better life as the outcome. Its a difficult thing but so far as I know theres no other way. Then life itself starts to kick in and we find ourselves creating a much better routine which might well include some or all of your wonderful list, and more.

There is no explaining. It's a survey, and those are the results. Interpretation is one thing, and speculation is another. Too much "explaining" and you become a bad scientist

One thing is for sure, there are far too many hidden variables in that study to draw any strong conclusion about sleep recommendation. Should a genetically long sleeper be forced to sleep 7h?

If you want your brain to work best, then practice good sleep habits to improve sleep quality, then let your body decide how much you need. Go to sleep when you're tired and wake up w/o and alarm clock. Depending on your sleep quality, genetics, and other factors, that may be 5h or 10h.

Default lurking in the shadows.

I have learned far more from listening than from talking. Most of what I see on the internet is leading into an ad of some sort or the other. So I look around, not lurking but observing.

I agree with it except...

mHz is a measure of frequency, as in radio wave oscillations per second. Food energy is measured in calories, and cake actually has more calories per serving than vegetables.

I think they mean nutrients? The brain runs on carbohydrates (calories for energy) and nutrients (proteins, fats, and vitamins/minerals).
