Default Gratitude and Thanksgiving

I feel I would be remiss if I did not bring attention to tomorrow (I'm on Pacific Standard Time, U.S.) of the Thanksgiving holiday.

I am extremely pleased that Katie Couric's Notebook on the CBS Evening News was on gratitude, and made reference to studies by clinical psychologists of the power of gratitude. (You can see her comments by following this link.) I suspect this is Human Existence 101 to most of us here, but it is reassuring to see the popular media taking a moment to help everyone remember this.

I ask that tomorrow, whatever your plans may be, take even a few moments, give yourself a little mental space, and consider the things you have for which you can be grateful.

(If you wind up shedding a tear or two in the process, I won't tell anyone.)

Default gratitude

Great reminder...

And unfortunately necessary. I've spent so many years trying to break free of perceived restraints of family obligations, that I forget to appreciate what is there. My Mother is still on this planet...and that alone is worth deep gratitude...rather than guilt or resistance.

Thanks for the reminder to be grateful.

Blessings to all of you.

Pam

Thanks for the reminder. I got a text message from a friend wishing me Happy Thanksgiving this morning. It just feels good to be in your friend's memory when they like to feel grateful.

It makes us feel even more grateful too... then it makes us wonder how much gratefulness have we shown to people whom we love? Hmm ...

Hey, me too! The same friend perhaps?

But he did inspire me to send my own thank you messages, in that way his action has had more impact than he suspected! Paying it forward in the best way, really.

Arrow How About Sharing Our Thanksgiving ?

Thought of starting a new thread, but instead decided to go along with this!

How about we say our words of thanks in this forum and pass it on?

Let me start the ball rolling ...

I'd like to thank Steve and Erin for setting up this wonderful forum and all the members who have given their golden advice. This is what makes this forum a different forum.

And I've posted this on my blog too ...

It's Thanksgiving! My Word Of Thanks To ...

Let's have more gratitude filling this forum. Who knows what the universe will do to bring these good feelings to those who deserve them ...

Default Gratitude for angels in my life.

Things are good here in Davao.

I must confess to being a little restless. My aunt in the US, my mothers’ baby sister is very ill and will not live a long time. I have always felt her love for me when we are together. She looks at me with her striking blue eyes and sees me and her beloved sister simultaneously. I look at her and see both my aunt and my mother. I have had a connection with her that is more than what the aunt, nephew relationship can explain. It is sad for me to know that she is leaving soon.

I am grateful to have had good people in my life. Some people live their lives without angels in the form of family, friends, and even strangers being there to accompany them on their journey. I have had many such angels in human form. I can recognize some of them when I examine my life as I am doing during this time of transition for my aunt and myself.

I have been lucky in another way with my aunt. I have recognized how much she has given me with her unconditional love and have been able to tell her I love her and how much she means to me. I am grateful for her and her love and also for having the opportunity to tell her how nice it is to have her in my life.

Sometimes I only realize the angels in my life when it is no longer possible to say thank you to them in person and must simply be grateful and say thank you to their memory. I am grateful today for all the angels in my life both those I have recognized and those who were unrecognized angels.

Hi Gene, I am sorry to hear this too. But I'm sure God will be taking care of her when you can't do the job anymore. Hugs
