| It seems that I've finally stumbled upon a fact that I've been ignoring for years. While going through all these attempts to gain my sence of self back (journey towards enlightenment, raise my consciousness, ect.) I've noticed that as of now I haven't really changed much. I mean I guess I could say I raised my consiousness, became wiser, and gained more knowledge, but it still "feels" like nothing has changed. When I realised this I went into thinking why that is. I remembered that two years ago I was going through a very rough time. I believe at the time I was full blown clinically depressed, but I greatly resented it. I didn't want to believe it, and also at the time I was too afraid to tell someone because of what they might think, how'd they react, what they'd think of myself ect. Therefore, I never fully dealt with these feelings. Instead I tried to store them away, and hope that maybe they'd eventually disapear. However, this was definitely not the case. These feelings affected me in everything part of my life. In sports, in school, in college, "Right Now". After realising this I'm ready to deal with it. I've raised my consciousness enough to realise that I'm the one responcible for where I'm at now, and that I'm the only one that can get myself out. My optimism is so high that I believe one day I will be able to shout out to the world that I'm the happiest man alive. |

| sorry it's so long But anyways, the reason I posted this second thread is because I still don't know exactly how to handle these feelings. These feelings extend really deep into my core and I don't believe I'd be able to pull them all up into consciousness. The emotions almost consumed me last time I tried and they were too powerful to withstand. With that being said I am wondering if there is a way I can try and uncover the pain piece by piece. I'd like to slowly drop it piece by piece until eventually I feel strong enough to let it all go. By the way thanks again for everyones help. Your advice has greaty helped me and made me realise the person I want to become. |

| Facing the pain one bit at a time is the right attitude to have. I always say if I had to face everything that I have done all together I could never have coped with it. For me two things have been really helpful. 1. Writing a daily diary about how I feel. That way the feelings get expressed and don't get chance to build up. I've writen an article about using journalling to express your feelings. You might want to read it How to express your Feelings 2. Counselling to work through issues I'm stuck on. I've done both f2f and online counselling. Depending upon the issues you may only need a couple of sessions. Alison |

| Counseling would be a good idea if you think your problems are too rooted in into your system, you may also want to try EFT, EFT Provides Impressive Health and Emotional Freedom--New Discovery Often Works Where Nothing Else is the oficial site, and Tapping.com - Free EFT Videos - Emotional Freedom Technique to see some free videos on how to do it, this is a technique to free yourself from un-wanted feelings and beliefs, it looks really weird but it also really works

| Good for you, Collegekid07, in recognising that the key to happiness lies in your hands. That took me a number of years to realise too; so you are not alone. I would second the above two suggestions; use EFT and writing a journal. I've been through it and I know that the two suggestions worked for me. If your issues are really deep, you may even want to see an EFT practitioner. I have had one and that really sped up my transformation. Also, sign up to the free EFT newsletter so that you can also read inspiring stories from others about how they dealt with their various issues/problems. You won't regret it!!
