| Hello everyone, First of all, I'm so glad finding this site! Next, I don't know if I'm posting in the right forum. Well, here is my dilemma. I hope someone can give his or her insight about this. Like a lot of you here, I've read tons of books on self-development. And the problem I have is being very excited waiting for the book or audiotape and the excitement goes on for only a few days after opening the first page. I seem to lose interest and don't have the follow through. If there's anyone have this type of problem or have any suggestion as to what I should do, please share your thoughts. I thank you so much! |

| I used to have the same problem. Getting answers feels good but a good book has so many answers that to apply them all immediately is just overwhelming. It's too big a job. Choose one thing to do from a book or tape that you think will stretch you a little bit but not too much. Work on it until you have mastered that small item of progress. Then find the next small step to make and repeat the process. You might think "This is too slow!" but a small piece of definite progress is much better than good intentions never completed and hence no progress whatsoever (perhaps for years on end!). | If your follow through problem is related to reading the whole book or listening to the whole audiotape, I'd say, you do not have enough interest in Personal Development. If that is the case, maybe you should buy other types of books (fiction, biographies, etc). If your problem is related to applying the concepts after you have read the book or listened to the audiotape, then I fully agree with Nick's recommendation. Good Luck! René |

I have had the same problem. And I currently have that problem for anything in life - any "huge" goal (huge is a relative term only you can define). I would suggest taking a look at Nick Pagan. I just found it and I'm going to implement his suggestions for this college semester. |

| Thanks for everyone's input! I totally agree with Nick about taking bits of suggestions at a time. Even though it may take much longer than I wanted but "life's a journey" isn't it? I did not disclose on my original post that I may have ADD and even though that I want to improve different areas of my life it is becomes a difficult task when I attempt to do it all at once and never completing any of those task; in this case books that I started to read but never completed any. I seem to envy those who read, for example, TAGR and finding their epiphany, then completed turning their lives around. Again, I am grateful finding this site and surrounded by intelligent individuals. |
