 Hello Money My greatest challenge is to recieve money for my services. BY THE TIME I HAVE FINISHED THIS PARAGRAPH THIS WILL NO LONGER BE TRUE A long time ago I was 16. All my life I had been painfully shy. One day, one moment, before I knew anything about personal growth, before computors, I decided I had to change. I took immediate action and have never been shy since. So I know I can change anything about myself in a moment of deciding to. In the last twelve months, I have worked about 3 months for nothing!!! A number of different clients have not paid me or have not adequatlely paid me for my work. AAAAgh!! I hereby declare to you, beloved reader, and the world at large that from this day forward: 1.I will have signed agreements/contracts before I do 1 minute of work. 2.That I will no longer give a free trial period 3.I will not allow the full force of my enthusiasm out, until there is a firm contract in place, or a weekly wage. There is a new sign on my forehead. It says RESPECT ME. The old one has peeled away and a bright new energy surrounds me. I am confident and skilled and have unique abilities. I have a lot to contribute and deserve to be paid well and frequently!! Thankyou for being witness to a my new growth. YIPEE  !!!Last edited by stellabeam : 11-30-2007 at 04:39 AM.      |

| Thank you, kindred spirits, for your encouragement!!!! Yesterday, I got $150 from someone who had assured me she could not pay me for anorher month. The universe is listening to what we think and feel about ourselves. Everything in our lives is a reflection. That sounds so cliche but today I know it is true. |

| Hello!! I just want to invite you to celebrate with me!! I renegotiated with a major cllient for the last 2 months work. Instead of paying me a lump sum, they agreed that I can invoice them for an hourly rate of $40 and backdated to when I began working for them!! This means an extra $2,000!!! I almost had an out of body experience while I was having this conversation. It was like I was listening to it rather than participating in it. Part of me is thinking "Am I really saying this?" I was !! I really was!! I am so happy!! |

| contract contract contract Hi everyone, Heh I just got offered a great job editing full time for TV show. They want me to move cities. They offered it verbally over the phone and I accepted. Then I emailed them and asked how soon I could get a copy of a contract outlining terms and conditions of employment. I have never taken this step before and it is exciting to me that I have raised my standard of personal protection. They have not responded yet. I am not going to plan moving until I have it, even though it sounds like a fantastic job. Hurray....for being bold and happy and believing in self worth!! Thanks for reading and being part of my fabulous life. |

| Congratulations to everyone and their accomplishments!!! I have taken some initiatives to take control of my life as well. I have been reflecting on what is going on NOW, and what I can do to move myself forward. I quit work in August to go back to school and start gaining insight and knowledge about various things that effect myself and the community I live in. My work seemed to consume a big portion of my life and the people I worked with had a major dependency on a single stream of income. It almost felt like a vortex. Every time I went to work, they kept trying to keep my sucked into the single income stream vortex, and build walls to not let me out. With the cool time off (not working) I hope to improve the way I earn income and help everyone around me. |

| That is awesome Stellabeam and to others here as well! I too have made a promise to myself to only do work once a contract is in place. I am a graphic designer and I love my work, so sometimes I find myself being taken advantage of...no longer! Here's to much success! |

| Thanks Stella (can I call you Stella? )!Well, with all new customers I am charging a $50 non-refundable deposit on all new jobs. So that way if they bag out in the end I have something. This happened to me once last year, but once was enough. Two new jobs finished this first month already! Yeah!  How is it going with you? |

| Congratulations ladybug!!! I bet that feels really great!! As for me, I have not heard a word from that company, since asking for written terms and conditions! Which makes me glad I asked, instead of moving cities like I would have done once. I have sent 2 emails and 1 phone message and no reply. Our last conversation was all eager and enthusiastic "yes can you start on the 26th Jan" etc....then nothing... So if a piece of paper is that scary for them, just as well I am not going!! Yes, call me Stella |

I'm sure that you've created a beautiful space for a company that honours you in return to step in and reward you accordingly. Whether it is the original company with an even better offer (and contract!) or another, it will definitely be fabulous!

| Wow! Thanks Mags and ladybug! I feel like I'm floating down a river on a piece of ice trying not to fall in and hoping I made the right decision to jump off the mainland. (Adjusting to the new me) Your comments are reassuring. I find I am waiting to hear from them. It would be better to put that waiting energy into applying for other work. If a boyfriend treated me like that I would ditch him!! When / if he finally contacted me it would be like "Sorry, too slow Ï have moved on". |

| Hello Everyone, Heh got an offer to make a mini documentary, and they said they'd pay me $4,000 a week!!! I used to earn that in a 6 months, not so long ago! Anyhow they asked me for a written quote and proposed budget etc. I am very happy that the universe so instantly rewarded me for my commitment to having written contracts. These people are asking me for it in writing!! I will word the quote, so it doubles up as a contract when they agree to hire me. Thanks for your support!! Stellabeam is beaming |

 Wow! This is just so inspiring! Congratulations, Stella(beam), and thanks all for this wonderful thread. So inspiring. I recieved an email from him saying it did not reflect our conversation at all, that he had only offered me $45 an hour and that my terms and conditions were unacceptable!! (I asked for half the money upfront, which is not uncommon in the industry) I realised I had misunderstood him. He speaks very fast and has a thick accent.
