It's not. At all.

I can't just agree that listening to "happier" music is a solution rather than listening to dark music.

The problem is, lyrics are only half the issue for me when I'm deciding if I like a song. I am more concerned with the sound of the music. And I've discovered, I really prefer the "harder" and, yes, darker instrumentation. Upbeat or major-key instrumentation just tends to get on my nerves. And seriously, I challenge someone to find a band that sounds like Nightwish or Within Temptation (or some similar goth-metal/orchestra-metal) but has uplifting lyrics. Seriously. Not gonna happen.

Besides which, as an artist, I firmly believe you cannot have beauty or goodness without conflict. The conflict is what gives contrast, without shadows how could we discern where the light is? So I have to say, I disagree that one must listen to happy or upbeat music in order to maintain a higher vibrational level (or at least not lower one's vibrations). If you really enjoy the music, and if you feel no ill effects after listening, why stop?

If you really want to know, I suppose you could do a 30-day trial. Completely change your music listening habits, listen to only classical music or something for awhile. See what it changes, if anything.
