Default Life Is Just A Movie!

I've learned to view life as a movie. When we watch a movie, we watch it purely for entertainment. The events in the movie can be tragic, but we know that it's just a movie, we observe and enjoy. After the movies over, we let go and move on.

I've learned to view the events in life like this. Just observing them, without getting emotionally involved. I watch the world work and let it pass, but I keep that feeling of peace lingering inside me at all time.

Life is what we make it, to me it's just another movie.

What do you make life?

have you ever read "illusions". it has a similar analogy. it says that you hold a movie reel in your hand, and you know everything that occurs in the movie. but in order to view it, enjoy it, and have thought provocation, you must watch the movie in linear time. that is, from start to finish, moment by moment.

far out man

I really wish my life was a TV sitcom. I just want that laugh track in there so every time I make a joke or a funny situation happens, there is a studio audience there to laugh.

If you view life like a movie, or a game, or even a dream, you will start to become aware of your own existence and decouple that from your physical body in a sense. You'll get the bird's eye view of the world around you and it will help broaden your perspective.

I am kind of seeing it like you do........... the only difference is I see it like a play, and I am the observer sometimes and sometimes the actor.. scenes change , actors change as does the plot...

so to quote a line from a Maxi Priest song "Just watchen the world go by"

Good for you. To be aware that life is a movie and observe has been a challenge for me for a lot of my life. Now I am like you and observe the passing parade more and more. Emotions will arise . We are human after all. Again observing the emotions but not becoming attached to them whatever they are certainly creates more and more inner peace. Thanks for your imput.

I agree. In my opinion watching a movie, no matter how engrossing, is far too passive an activity to be adequately compared to my life.

Do you not cry in movies? Get scared in horror flicks? Are you passively watching your life movie or are you a character? The hero or the villian? An extra? What happens if you don't like the movie?

Entertainment is great distraction, but you might miss something important by living this way.

I just read Steve's article called 'Life-The Ultimate Game' and it really got me thinking. I can't compare life to tic tac toe or even 'The Sims', but if we could just take steps to view life from a broader perspective, where not every marriage, divorce, job promotion, lay-off, perfect report card or failed class is some cosmic event, I think, in many ways, we would actually learn to take life more seriously. Being latched onto one thought, or goal---a high GPA in my case---really takes away from the greater experience.
