is that really good? I would need a celebrity of someone close to answer this, but no need at all to tell about who he/she is, that's the point of this post. I mean, when someone becames a celebrity he loses intimacy... He's recognized everywhere and never at peace anywhere... is that really worth it? There are degrees of it... I would like to be a musician, the fame of Beatles or Elvis is not the same as the one of... James Blunt, for instance. But maybe I'm too much confident about my talent but I really fear the big fame... a lot of things would end for me(and a lot will start, I know...). |

A friend of mine is on that journey and a high level of confidence is required. However what is also required is supportive friends who keep you grounded and in touch with reality. He's english and will be on tour in LA next year. He doesn't get mobbed in the street - maybe that's an english thing or something to do with the town I live in. Paul Mc Cartney and Fat Boy Slim also live here just outside Brighton. Every human being needs intimacy but you learn how to manage your privacy and control as much as possible what goes into the media - also agents exert lots of control to protect your image. If was meant to be that you became well known then in time you would come to terms with it. If you have talent then go for it. |

I think it depends on your goals, and how you take being a celebrity. That is to say, if you actually choose to identify with all the notoriety, and believe that the being so many people know about, is actually you, or pure fiction. The people that can handle fame well tend to live genuine, normal, private lives. I think the ones that identify with the fame turn to drugs and "can't handle it", and from that regard, they might not be so different from anyone who turns to drugs or other methods of escapism. |

It's really, really dependent upon the person involved. For some, celebrity has brought fame, wealth, happiness and a burning desire to continue to do what they're doing. (Bruce Springsteen comes to mind right away.) For others, it becomes a millstone around their neck that they wish they never got in the first place. (hello Britney..!) For yet others, they enjoy the money and the work, but are very uncomfortable with the whole role as public persona. (Neil Peart.) So one's response to celebrity is as individual as one's own personality. I guess it might be like being invovled in an extremely stressful situation, such as combat. One never knows how they're going to react until they're in the middle of it. |

Personally, I'm not so big on the whole "celebrity status" thing, and I don't understand why so many people are obsessed with celebrities. They put their pants on one leg at a time, just like everyone else. Now, that being said, I recognize and respect their talent, but I wouldn't take celebrity status if you...uh...paid me! I value freedom above all else, and if I couldn't even walk out my front door without putting on a disguise, that is not freedom as far as I'm concerned. Here's a post that I wrote about this concept awhile back: I Used to Be a Celebrity… |

A problem is that people (most of) don't relate with celebrities as "people" but like... "fiction characters"... I've been near lots of celebrities by chance, but I've never thought or bother them. And that's why some go with disguise out of his houses.... I guess the only way is trying... I would say and I'm very confident guy but that scares me a lot, I know a lot of painful stories. I've always read about it... and some "succesful" musicians lifes have been miserable... Some say it depends if you're extroverted or introverted (is that simple?). So you'll handle well with amounts of people or not. |
