One of the themes of the workshop: we'd go up to random people and tell them that they were awesome... and then it happened to me

We were hanging out at the park after the workshop, and a couple of Jehovah Witness types came up to me. My usual reaction to being handed material that tells me that I'm going to burn for eternity is to say "Grrr! Go away!" This time while I still politely declined to hear their spiel or take one of their pamphlets, I felt kinship in that they were trying to help people, even if I disagreed with them about what was helpful. So I said, "thank you for coming out today and making me this offer, would you like a hug?"

Her literal, exact response:

"You're awesome!"

Epic! That's an awesome story Andrew!

I think also that the experiences of this workshop could be summed up with two expressions : "YOU'RE AWESOME" and "I'M AWESOME!"
