Pre-workshop meetup
 

Are there any plans for activities prior to the workshop? What has been done in the past and worked well? Anyone interested in trying new activities? Anyone arriving prior to noon Thursday? Are there any shows you would like to see Wednesday or Thursday night?

There's usually a meetup Thursday evening on the strip somewhere.... last time I attended it was held in a food court at one of the big hotels.

Suggestions, people?

I would love to see a Cirque Du Soleil show on some evening. :) Maybe Dinner + Ka Thursday evening? :)

Definitely count me in for dinner and a show Thursday night. Cirque du soleil sounds great.

I'm in town from early Thursday so I'm up for an afternoon hang too if anyone else is.

Something on Thursday afternoon+night would be awesome :) I've just arrived in Vegas this afternoon, and I'm trying to wrap my head around the city (that's an understatement ;) ). Has anyone else arrived yet? I'd love to meet up earlier than Thursday if anyone else is getting in early!

A good spot for a pre-workshop meeting up Thursday is the Luxor Food Court, which is on the second floor of the Luxor. On Thursday night it wouldn't be crowded, you could pull up chairs, etc. If someone wants to run with this idea and be the leader and point of contact, that would be great. Most people are staying near the Tropicana, and the Luxor is an easy walk from the Trop.

How does this sound:

Dinner Thursday evening at the Luxor food court (meet at 6pm), followed by Ka.

Kevin, for the half-price tickets for Ka, are they through Tix4tonight? Do you know what time the show's on, and if it's likely to sell out? Maybe we could meet up a bit early, get tickets, then head to Luxor for dinner. Do you reckon that would work?

It also sounds like a few people are free Thursday afternoon, too. Perhaps we could use the Luxor food courts as a meeting point for that as well, meet up at 2pm or so, and go from there.

How does that sound? Let me know if you reckon we should tweak anything (times, places, etc.).

Wow, looks like I got on this fourm at the right time. I am attending the CGW as well and will be arriving at around 5:30PM on Thursday. I am staying at the Silverton Hotel and then could make my way to the food court at the Luxor if you guys are still around.

I won't be using my cellphone in Las Vegas, but I do have skype on my laptop to keep in touch.

Meetup at 5:30 at the Luxor sounds good. Will be nice to have a change of location from the usual Thursday night location.

I'm not interested in a show though (and I've already seen Ka), so if anyone else wants to hang out longer, I probably will be up for it.

Ka is on at 7 and 9:30pm. I reckon it might be good to aim for the 7pm show so it's not too hard to make it to the workshop the next morning, but this won't give us much time for dinner. Let's meet a little earlier at 5:30pm at Luxor and we can make plans from there.

Hi everyone! I'm kind of bummed out that my flight doesn't get in until all of these festivities are underway!

I'll be rolling into Vegas at around 8 or 9, depending on how the airlines are feeling tomorrow.

So I am most definitely up for hanging out later (hint hint people who are not going to the show =)

Outside of that, I'll be doing some prep for the workshop that night somewhere. Don't know Vegas too well, so any suggestions would be good?

Kevin, I'd love a ticket for KA - I'd probably chose the $99 one, though if more expensive tickets just happen to be next to each other, I'd rather sit together. :) Thanks!

@Le Roi Would you like to be point of contact for people not heading to the show? That way, as people arrive they can find the group, and after the show we can regroup if it's not too late.

@Kevin Roger that, a ticket would be great :) I'm happy with any ticket level, with a preference for sitting together.

@Dunkafelics For workshop prep work it's pretty easy to find a starbucks or a food court in a pinch. There's also a cool cafe in the fashion show mall called Red Velvet that does good veg/vegan food. They're open till 9pm.

Thanks for taking care of those tickets Kevin. I'd be fine with the cheapest ticket price too.

I'm in town already tonight also, going to just wander around a bit I think and then hit the sack. But I'm game for possibly meeting up before dinner tomorrow afternoon to explore or hike around town.

Sure. I don't know if I'll still be there when the show is over, we'll see.

I'm definitely looking forward to the CGW and meeting you all!! Too bad I won't be able to make it out to any of the Pre-Workshop Meet Up activities.
