Hi folks, For anyone who's been to a CGW, you'll surely have fond memories of the power and courage exercises that Steve had everyone attempt. Trying to check things off that list resulted in some unforgettable and mind-altering moments for me. Anyway, I'm encouraging readers of my blog to perform similar exercises, and I just wanted to post it on here in case anyone is interested. I'm listing out 10 challenges each day this week (Monday-Friday), and reporting on how I fared trying to complete them. I'm hoping to inspire a few people to step outside their comfort zone and experience those same thrills I did in Vegas last July. I'm also having a lot of fun in the process ;-) You can read how I got on with the first 10 challenges here: Random Acts of Courage – Monday challenges and field report This morning I'm heading off into the city centre to sing in public, lie down in a busy store, chat with an invisible friend, and other such things. Wish me luck :-) - Niall |

Love the idea. Really need to get working on my courage again, as I am about to head along a similar path to you in that I have just left my job to pursue a similar goal to you. Anyway if you wanted to share a copy of the original list from CGW I have put a digitized copy on my blog, if you wanted to share it with your readers at all. CGW Handouts |

Hi Niall! Love, love, LOVE this! I just finished reading the whole week of posts on your blog! Great job! You really know how to push the boundaries. I bet you feel like a different person in some ways! I haven't really done any short, quick challenges like this in a while, but I've done some longer ones. This summer, I kayaked 430 km by myself on a wilderness river here in northern Canada, over the course of 10 days (7 consecutive). I'm an experienced paddler, but spending that much time alone with myself was very interesting! People often ask if I was afraid, but I wasn't really. Well, maybe a little. I was very careful so I wouldn't have any problems. (read more here: 2010 July Adventures with Teresa in particular the post "Identity Crisis of a Magical Pixie.") The other thing I've done to stretch myself is join the volunteer Fire Department in my hometown. Yup, i'm a fire fighter! Crazy! I have a lot to learn... And I realize this isn't something that everyone has the opportunity to do, but I just wanted to mention it, because there is value in doing long-term things that stretch you too! (read more here: Ice Rescue! Adventures with Teresa). I wish I had met you at the CGW (I went to #2)!! Best of luck in all your adventures! |
