Well, hopefully others besides me will chime in. My questions are rather dumb I suppose, but what the hell, right? 1. Weather: Freezing cold? Super hot? Somewhere in the middle? Do I need a heavy coat? Loads of sweaters? Or will it be so hot I'll want to run around nekkid? 2. Internet access: I'm staying at the Flamingo, which I'm sure offers some kind of Internet access. However, I couldn't find the details on the site. Any previous attendees know how much they charge? Or, could one person bring a wireless router, we could set up a network, and split the cost? Any cheap/free internet cafes near the hotel? Is it even worth it to bring a laptop? 3. Laundry...this is where it gets to dumb dumb stuff Ok, that's it for now. Post your questions here, I know I can't be the only one wondering these things |

Ok I am from the UK but spent 2 months in Vegas .. Vegas is one of the hottest places on the planet but its evenings at this time of the year are pretty dire weather wise as its in the mountains ... I would take tshirts + a warm coat/hoodie depending on where you will be going I would also take a laptop as Im not sure how easy an internet cafe will be to come by and the last thing you want to do is waste your leisure time trying to locate a location .. most of the hotels in vegas are pretty upmarket so I would of though they would have some kind of connection when you get there .. however dont quote me on that as I stayed in a family home whilst there and so am only guessing at that one And lastly, personally ... I would just take a few changes of clothes and go shopping when I get there!! |

There is an internet cafe at the Hawaiian Marketplace where you pay some deposit for access, and then get refunded the difference. It is also a place to get cheap water. It is about 20 minutes walk south of the Flamingo on Las Vegas Blvd. It is past Planet Hollywood. They also have some cheap food outlets there. Google it ahead of time.

I am not bringing my laptop. I want to. I really really do, but I realize that there is no reason to do so. It would be a crutch and I don't need that I'm going to look up the weather... What they did say is that in the conference room it can get chilly with the airco, so maybe take at least a sweater for that. |

Joachim Schwarz | Facebook Joachim above is an expert at Vegas public trans...hit him up for more info. For lunch and evenings...I suggest you plan to team up with a group of folks and either use a cab/limo or go with people with cars to lunch... You can also just stay on the strip for lunch, just try not to get in with TOO many people and sit down, this takes WAY longer than you think it will and you will be late back to the workshop...I was late many times There is a Chipotle near Flamingo, so you can grab take out and walk back to the flamingo and hangout there...you can get almost Vegan food if you need that and it's cheap and quick. For dinner, people group up for food and activities...if you don't have a car, roll into a group...Me, I hung out with people that had their own car. This worked out, only that I generally stayed out later than I would have if I was on my own and became a little bit tired/cranky towards the end of the evening, mostly cause I just wanted to be sleeping and I was still up I never did any laundry...sorry. Internet is fairly reasonable in most hotels, but not free for the most part. Most hotels, do have a small free hotspot somewhere in the hotel by like a starbucks or other restaurant. I paid the bill for in room internet...and I used it in the mornings and to upload videos in the evenings. Weather can get pretty chilly at night, during the day, I would think you would be ok with a t-shirt and maybe a sweater in case the A/C makes you cold. At night, bring a fall jacket, you should be ok...check vegas overnight lows on the internet, and bring a warmer jacket if you think you might need it. CYA, there!!! | |

Does the Flamingo have a parking lot nearby? Is driving to the workshop each day and parking a realistic option? Or do the casinos charge a small fortune to park from 8am - 6pm? (would be 10+ hours a day).

Wow, free parking, too bad I wont have a car. The Casino in Brisbane, charges for parking unless you play a certain amount on tables or slots. Just like every where else in Brisbane, Where as the other Casino near brisbane I suppose offers free parking.

Another question about hotels. I'm driving to Vegas so with a car I can stay in cheaper hotels out of the strip. But there are so many! Can you suggest me one that you stayed in and liked it? Thank you!

@ 90802; I also travel light. I only come with my handlugagebackpack. I always take some wash powder or fluid with me. Do your everyday-wash in the sink. Wrap it in a towel. Go jump on it a few times and the next day, or hours later depending on the type, you have fresh dry clothes |

The site I went to says the Flamingo has phone jacks for dial-up access. Wait, what!? "Hello, this is the Flamingo Hotel. Welcome to 1997, and we hope you enjoy your stay. If you have any questions please dial '0' on your rotary phone. If no one answers we are drawing water from the nearby well. Thank you." I'm not bringing my laptop anyway, but good gravy. See you guys Thursday for dinner after I touch down -- thanks 90802 for generously volunteering to be point person! Lisa |

Anyone knows if there is any good (discount) shopping to be done in Las Vegas? Since I think I'll have to pass on the hike (which I really regret, because it seems very beautiful), I might as well go shopping So... anybody else up for something indoors (could be anything) on Monday or Tuesday? |

Hey Sandra, I found a promising looking place for shopping about a 12 minutes taxi ride down the strip. It's an outlet and looks like it has just about every brand you could imagine. Here's their store listing: Las Vegas Premium Outlets - Designer Outlet Stores & Map I'd totally be up for going on Friday after the seminar, but I have a feeling there will be more entertaining things to do in Vegas Last edited by Dan Carter; 10-28-2010 at 04:15 AM. |

There are two different outlet centers one at each end of the strip. There is a Bus which you can get between both and it costs just $7 for 24 hours. Takes a little while to get between then, however depends which is more important saving money on transport or time.
