Question about Accessibility and Accommodations

Hi,

So I've been around these forums for about two years now, and I really feel like I could use a workshop like this. I've never been to something like this before, so it should be really interesting.

I don't know where to ask these questions, but figure this would be the best place. Coming to Las Vegas will probably be me, my fiancé, and my mom at minimum, but it will either be just me, or both me and my fiancé, coming to the workshop itself. Either way, I am completely blind, and she is only partially sighted.

We will be able to get to the location of the workshop just fine, but once we are inside, we will probably need some help just finding a seat, or getting wherever we need to get to. Will this be possible, or is it too much to ask? I would really like to come, but that is the one possible setback.

Perhaps we can get in contact with someone else who will be going, so that we can meet up or something; I don't know. I'm just trying to figure out what will work best.

Nothing is concrete yet, but it should work, and I just want to make sure this isn't a dead end before we go planning.

I am not 100 percent sure that I will be attending CGW5--but I am leaning towards yes. I attended CGW1 CGW2 and CGW3. But if I am there--I am certainly willing to help you. I am sure that others would too--it just kind of works that way. Your requests seem very straightforward and not difficult to accommodate. Usually during lunch breaks and evening activities--people go in groups anyway--so I can't imagine any problem with your having a good selection of places to explore with others. Everything you need is in walking distance and some people have cars and take others offsite for shopping, hiking etc.

So are you a piano performer? A few CGWers have taken advantage of the piano that is just down the hall from the conference room to give performances.

Mabel, yes I'm a classical pianist; I've been playing for 16 years. I'd love to be able to play there if possible.

Angela: Yes, it looks like both of us will be coming. I am really excited to go and meet everyone. I'm not sure where we will be staying yet, but I think we also will be staying from Thursday through Monday.

It'll be easier to plan once we know more specifics, but maybe if someone is staying in the same hotel we are, we can get their contact information, and perhaps we can just tag along with them to the conference room. Anyway, we'll figure all that out, I just wanted to make sure that it'd be accessible to us somehow. But I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Me too I've never been in Vegas before...

And my old insecurities insist that I make sure that I have someone to meet and something to do when I arrive so I don't have to figure it out on the spot... Although I know I will be great either way.

I am so much looking forward to this, you have no idea!!!! The week before I'll be going on a 4 day holiday with my husband, then home for a bit and then LAS VEGAS!!
